Our summer interns have been working hard but also playing hard! In addition to contributing to their teams and gaining tremendous experience, they have been able to participate in our social events and initiatives like a company meet & greet, a cornhole tournament, an AI live coding session and even professional development opportunities with Talent Acquisition for resume reviews, LinkedIn, and interviewing.
Our summer interns have been working hard but also playing hard! This summer, Own Company launched its first-ever Emerging Talent Program. The program is designed to ensure our interns and early career hires have a rewarding summer filled with valuable work, learning, and enjoyment. As part of the initiative, participants have had the opportunity to engage in meaningful sessions featuring stories from our CEO, senior leaders, and former interns who are now employees. They have also benefited from workshops focused on enhancing skills like public speaking, giving and receiving feedback, and asking insightful questions. Additionally, networking and volunteering events allowed the group to forge connections with Own employees, foster relationships within the group, and contribute to Own's commitment to serving our local community.

Currently, all of our interns are working on their presentations for our annual intern showcase. This end-of-summer event is designed to highlight the incredible work they've completed during their internship to their leader, team, and the organization. It also gives them the opportunity to practice presenting in a professional setting similar to what full-time team members do.

Our Northeastern Co-Op class started in July and will work alongside our Creative team through the end of the year. Grace is a Copywriter and GiGi is a Graphic Designer. They create and edit the copy and imagery you see on Rue La La and Gilt boutiques. Our Co-Ops work alongside the team for course credit and function as full team members. They will be partaking in the RGG Summer Celebration at PuttShack in the Boston Seaport later this August!

SmartBear is excited to welcome Benjamin Gonzalez for the summer as our Service Desk Intern. This is his first IT role. Benjamin previously worked at the Franklin Park Zoo and is trained in animal handling for reptiles and some mammals. SmartBear is also thrilled to have Kierce Tarmy as Brand and Corporate Communications Intern for the summer. She’s been working on all things brand – from videography to customer advocacy and social media. She is absolutely crushing it!

In addition to completing their projects and gaining valuable experience they have participated in an Investment Challenge, welcome breakfast, and Ice Cream social. Once again, we will celebrate National Intern Day on July 25th with an Intern Appreciation luncheon hosted by the leadership team and past interns who will share their career path journeys.

During their time in the office, the interns got to enjoy face time with their Managers, Executives and other team members.
The interns are working on projects and will present their findings to their functional team at the end of the program. In addition to gaining valuable work experience, the interns have enjoyed hearing from leaders during lunch and learns, play virtual trivia and other fun opportunities to connect and engage with fellow Kyruunauts.
