As a tech start up that was founded in 2006, we have maintained that ‘start-up’ feel. We’re highly collaborative, we move fast, we embrace (and test) new ideas constantly, and we’re very much driven by a passion for innovation. What can someone expect during the interview process?
We keep it simple. Since most of our top candidates are working, we are flexible with phone interviews and the on-site interview process. We do our best to keep it to one on- site for that reason. We test candidates on what they know and their problem solving skills, so prepare to be challenged! Once we have the candidate and team's feedback, final decisions are quickly made.
Are there any favorite activities that the employees do outside of the office? (examples: company outings, charitable events, etc.)
Our Fun Friday events, held quarterly (sometimes more frequently) are huge highlights here at CarGurus. We’ll take the day off and find some fun, different activity to do as a company. We’ve sea kayaked in Essex, MA, raced cars at F-1, played paddle tennis tournaments...the list goes on.
Do you have any unique benefits or perks?
We have many (many, many) company perks, and they are an integral part of work-life and culture here. Most of those perks revolve around food and fun: catered lunch twice a week, a fully stocked kitchen (with a Whole Foods grocery list to which we all contribute), beer on tap, company cocktails every Friday afternoon, a game room to feed our foosball/FIFA obsessions. We also do a quarterly “Fun Friday” event as a company out of the office – events have ranged from F-1 car racing to sea kayaking. On the more traditional benefits front, we offer excellent health benefits plus commuter passes, a free gym membership at a local gym, plus a corporate HubWay membership. All new employees get a new iPad too.
What’s on tap or in your fridge?
We rotate beers regularly, but right now we have Peak Organic Octoberfest. Our fridge and kitchen is stocked weekly with anything our employees add to the grocery list: fresh fruit, yogurt, snacks, etc. We are never lacking for food or drink here.
