The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Our Cybersecurity Engineers form a diverse team of hands-on technical security professionals who are collectively responsible for designing, implementing, managing, supporting, and monitoring the overall security posture of the organization. They partner with teams across the company to continually optimize our security posture while maintaining a hyper-focus on the reliability and stability of our business environments.
This role has a hybrid work schedule ( 2 days onsite) and we will only consider candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX, Columbus, OH and Indianapolis, IN.
About the job:
The Cybersecurity Engineer will work with cutting-edge security solutions that are located within Liberty Mutual physical data centers and cloud environments. This DevOps Engineer works within an established Agile team focused on analysis, system design, system configuration documentation, testing, implementation and support for highly complex security operations and processes. We make Liberty systems available globally through modern Identity Provider Management.
- Support security application development initiatives requiring innovation, automation, and integration.
- Delivery and support of cybersecurity solutions and controls, employing cybersecurity processes, methods, techniques, and tools.
- Develops source code, unit test cases and test scripts.
- Develops efficient, maintainable, defect-free source code that meets business requirements and team standards.
- Performs Quality Assurance coding review; defects or discrepancies in requirements identified and resolved with appropriate partners.
- Perform onboarding of Applications using Modern Security Protocols.
- Collaborates on troubleshooting production issues and performing root cause analysis, supporting security incidents, service delivery, technology configuration and lifecycle, and technical security investigations and forensic collection.
- Analyzes and prepares basic technology enabled recommendations to address gaps within a single business process.
- Continuously monitoring, improving service, and identifying possibly process improvements that address functional and technological gabs.
- Continuously monitoring and improving service quality; including Incident response, analysis, development, and consumption of cybersecurity data models, metrics, and analytics.
- Maintaining awareness of industry advancements in cybersecurity technology capabilities; threat analysis and reporting.
Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates will have:
Experience with one or more coding and scripting languages such as Java, Node.js, React.js,or Python. Entra, PING or Auth0 experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of Cybersecurity experience.
- Knowledge of frameworks, standards, and best practices (i.e., NIST, PCI, CIS-CSCs, COBIT).
- Experience applying DevSecOps principles including CI/CD, configuration, and infrastructure (Unix/Linux) as code, and auto-remediation.
- Experience applying the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Top Ten to web application design and code.
- Ability to assist on implementation projects and produce run-book documentation, including procedures and job-aids.
- Experience in developing and using Source Code Version Control Systems like Git or Subversion, including branching, merging, and managing code releases/versions.
- Experience with Development and Automation tools including Java, HTML, PowerShell, Ruby, Bamboo, Git, Jenkins, SAML Tracer, Fiddler etc. Experience working with Oracle, MS-SQL, SQL, JBOSS, Splunk.
- Experience with Multi-factor Authentication, Active Directory, LDAP, or Cloud Directory Services (PING, Azure, or AWS).
- Experience with developing end to end applications in a fully scaled Agile environment, including JIRA, SAFe, SCRUM and KANBAN.
- Knowledge of new and emerging technologies, IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies, as well as security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications, and network protocols.
- Negotiation skills; oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated consultative skills, including the ability to understand and assist in applying customer requirements.
- Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required.
- Basic proficiency of operational framework capabilities to include dimensional and lateral thinking, architectural analysis, business analysis and financial disciplines, data integration and analysis, and computational thinking.
- Basic proficiency across security and compliance, social networking, application delivery, mobile competency, system and technology integration, system software infrastructure, and workplace adaptability.
