The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days per week in the office) and we will consider candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX.
Job Introduction:
As a member of the LIFTED Shared Services team, the Product Owner represents the voice of the customer and the organization through the delivery of business value, focusing primarily on vendor-originating data pertaining to Vehicles, Drivers, Credit, and Compliance within our Reusify product line, and will expand to other developing Shared Services opportunities.
The Product Owner II - Shared Services who fulfills this role must work closely with stakeholders (business and technology), including leadership, to define and prioritize initiatives, features, and stories, ensuring alignment with customer needs and organizational goals. This person must demonstrate the ability to understand our customers needs and problems in detail and ensure the problems are clearly defined and prioritized so that the agile teams are focused on the most valuable work.
The Product Owner is the team member who is always communicating with stakeholders, ensuring an aligned understanding of how the agile team can provide the highest value to the customer through the lens of the product portfolio.
This person must have the ability to understand the technical essentials of the products they are managing and collaborate with agile teams, product owners, technical managers, and architects across the Shared Services product portfolio suites as well as within the various Liberty Mutual markets to develop a deep understanding of the technologies and systems they support.
About the job:
- Collaborates to create and/or enhance a product vision and alignment with strategic priorities with stakeholders. Contribute to the development of the portfolio vision. Communicates product and portfolio vision to their agile team and other agile teams beyond their portfolio/functional area.
- Work collaboratively with key customer stakeholders to define Key Value Indicators that help measure outcome attainment.
- Owns and maintains the product backlog and is accountable for its contents and prioritization. Accountable for clear, actionable, initiatives, epics, and user stories.
- Sets priorities and actively participates in the quarterly planning cycle for the products they are responsible. Collaborates with Product Owners across USRM and GRS to set priorities for portfolio quarterly planning.
- Sets expectations with stakeholders for the delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities, defining Key Value Indicators that help measure outcome attainment and transition product enhancements onto the product backlog.
- Participates in agile team demos, retrospectives, and all other scrum ceremonies.
- Works daily with the agile team, clarifying business needs, assisting in removing product-level roadblocks, constantly communicating, and supporting alignment around product strategy. Resolving open issues/questions quickly and efficiently.
- Collaborates with IT and business leadership to align development and business.
- Monitors and maintains the products health, supporting long-term product viability and efficiency, and balancing long and short-term costs with desired outcomes and projected benefits.
- Analyzes and reports on feasibility, cost of delay ramifications, economies, customer-related product usage metrics, or other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product. Ensures a well-positioned product through internal and external market & industry analysis.
- Understands regulatory, compliance, and other industry constraints on the product and prioritizes accordingly. Negotiates with internal and external agile teams to ensure priorities are aligned across agile teams both within and outside the portfolio.
- Communicates expected value and any changes in value to be delivered in each iteration (sprint, monthly, quarterly, etc.) to key technical and customer stakeholders.
- At times may lead or co-lead customer-centric design, ADDR, and usability testing with the agile teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc.).
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct experience with agile teams as well as 5 years in business, technology, or consulting.
- Experience with vendor integrations and vendor management, API development, and web-based applications is desirable.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management.
- Able to depict and explain the importance of complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences; educate SBU/department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
- Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders; strong leadership skills.
- Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily.
- Strong problem solver with demonstrated ability to lead a team to push the solutions and progress.
- Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
- Experience delivering applications involving user interfaces and APIs is preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio preferred.
- A strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty.
