The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

To win in a world of accelerated change, it is critical to create the protected space to incubate new ideas, rapidly test concepts in market, and accelerate the delivery of critical insights and capabilities to the business. Since 2016, Solaria Labs has been testing into new spaces and reinventing Global Retail Markets offerings for the future, and now Solaria is expanding to become an enterprise-wide incubation function within the Enterprise Strategy team. This change will enable us to leverage Solarias capabilities across our businesses and functions to test and learn in a way that reduces uncertainty, de-risks future investments and limits distraction for the core business.
The newly created Global Risk Solutions (GRS) Incubation team will focus on incubating opportunities with high potential for disruption in partnership with GRS business teams. This includes opportunities that support enterprise-wide innovation priorities as well as those that support GRS strategy. We are looking for a new member of the newly created GRS Incubation team to help spearhead our efforts to innovate. This person will report to the Head of GRS Incubation.
Responsibilities
- Partner with key stakeholders across Liberty Mutual to identify opportunities that are aligned to enterprise-level and/or GRS strategic priorities and have the potential to disrupt our business in the future
- Define incubation opportunities, including hypotheses to test and near- and long-term value
- Design and incubate new products, services, and tools with the goal to generate new learnings and assets to de-risk and accelerate future investments
- Partner with key stakeholders to transfer these learnings and assets back to the core business
Example Project from Global Retail Markets (GRM) Incubation team
Extreme weather events have a profound effect on our customers, and increasing weather resilience is a critical ESG priority for Liberty Mutual. In 2022, Solaria Labs partnered with the Office of Sustainability to explore new ways to help our customers proactively build weather resilience. Together we created WeatherReady, a new feature on our Liberty+ digital services platform that informs and empowers customers to build weather resiliency by providing science-backed advice, recommended solutions/service providers, and tools to track progress. WeatherReady is now live in 9 states, and we are partnering with GRM to test in the LM Mobile App in 2023.
In this role you will have the opportunity to lead similar types of projects with GRS.
Position is based in Boston.
The actual internal level/grade for this role will depend on the candidates overall experience and skill level:

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant work experience within product management required for Assistant Director level
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant work experience required within product management for Director I level
- Expert skills in Excel and PowerPoint
- Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision-making, communication, and project management skills
- Understanding of commercial insurance concepts, underwriting process, and financial metrics strongly preferrred
- Self-starter who takes the initiative to lead their own projects and can set a vision
- Ability to manage high degrees of complexity and ambiguity
- Strong collaboration / relationship-building skills
- Exposure to Agile
