What we need
The Controls Engineering Team at Symbotic is seeking an intern to support the development and testing of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems for our warehouse automation systems. The ideal candidate is a graduate or advanced undergraduate student in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field with experience in PLC programming, control systems, robotics, and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) development.
What youll do

Assist in the design, development, and testing of standardized PLC programs for control systems of warehouse automation equipment.

Contribute to the design and implementation of PLC hardware and software systems.

Work with site operators to understand and diagnose PLC system issues.

Develop and execute testing plans to validate PLC systems performance.

Participate in code reviews and adhere to PLC programming best practices.

Develop and implement standardized PLC Add-On Instructions (AOIs) to improve code reusability and maintainability.

Develop and implement HMIs for PLC systems using Ignition software.

Other tasks as required.
What you'll need

Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronics or equivalent.

Knowledge of object orientated languages (e.g. C++, C#, Java, JavaScript).

Ability to learn new technologies and techniques.

Ability to travel 25%.
Our Environment

Up to 25% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid drivers license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
