Mission Summary
As a Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) at Motional, you will play a key role in shaping our workforce strategy and fostering a culture of excellence. This position directly contributes to Motionals mission of redefining safe, driverless transportation by partnering with leaders to develop and implement human capital strategies.
You will work closely with management, the HRBP team, and HR Centers of Excellence to drive HR programs, coach managers and leaders, oversee employee relations, and lead talent management initiatives. This role requires on-site presence at least three days per week at our Las Vegas office, a critical hub for Motionals operational activities. You will provide direct HR support to Motionals Operations & Safety organization, ensuring alignment between business needs and HR strategies. Reporting to the Global HRBP Director, you will be part of a dynamic, global HR team focused on delivering best-in-class HR support.
This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite in our Vegas office.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will engage in both strategic and tactical HR initiatives, providing leadership, coaching, and support across multiple HR functions:
Business Partnership & Leadership Coaching:
- Build trusted relationships with leaders, managers, and employees.
- Act as a strategic advisor and coach for leadership on HR-related matters.
- Provide guidance on policy administration, compliance, change management, and organizational design.
- Partner with leadership on talent assessment, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
HR Program Execution & Employee Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee key HR programs, including performance reviews, compensation planning, promotions, and employee surveys.
- Provide HR guidance and support for both exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring policies and programs address the unique needs of each group.
- Partner with leadership to develop strategies that enhance engagement, retention, and career development across all workforce levels, including contingent and frontline employees.
- Partner with the Talent Acquisition team on internal offers, workforce planning, onboarding and offboarding, and interviewing for senior roles.
- Support workforce planning and internal mobility to align business needs with talent development.
- Drive HR initiatives related to mentorship programs and other cross-functional efforts.
Employee Relations & Compliance:
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues through thorough, objective investigations.
- Provide guidance on performance management best practices and employee conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with multi-state and global employment laws and HR policies.
Operational HR Support & Communication:
- Serve as the on-site HR presence for the Las Vegas office, addressing day-to-day HR needs.
- Provide responsive HR support by handling employee inquiries, policy questions, and issue resolution.
- Partner with compensation and benefits teams for pay structure evaluations and internal benchmarking.
- Contribute to employee communications, including crafting HR-related messaging and updates.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a direct HR business partnership role
- Experience supporting both exempt and non-exempt employees, particularly in an operational or multi-shift environment.
- Proven ability to influence, coach, and build relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Experience supporting a non-exempt and contingent workforce, ideally in an operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, investigations, compensation, benefits, employment law, and HR program administration.
- Experience working in multi-state and global business environments.
- Proficiency in HR systems, Google Suite, and a willingness to learn new tools quickly.
- A proactive, adaptable, and strategic mindset with strong communication skills (written and verbal).
