WHOOP is seeking a Global Supply Engineering Manager to work with WHOOPs Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, and other internal Teams to develop technical product engineering designs and manage mechanical component suppliers and distributors located in Asia and North America. You will serve in a lead engineering role and contribute to global supply engineering operations at WHOOP.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with other Mechanical and Industrial Engineers to develop technical designs and identify necessary plastic, packaging and metal commodities;
- Evaluate sourcing opportunities to optimize quality, delivery, cost, and inventory targets;
- Partners with the Hardware Engineering team to develop optimal supplier selections for new products;
- Own the commercial interaction with suppliers from quoting through execution stages for all their cost elements and incurred variances;
- Manage weekly, monthly, quarterly reviews with suppliers to discuss capacity plans, clear-to-build readiness evaluation, and key performance indicators;
- Constantly monitor material component market trends to mitigate any potential supply risks;
- Publish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for weekly, monthly, quarterly product engineering performance; and
- Monitor, audit, and approve supplier quoting and observes trends in actual billing
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial and System Engineering plus 5 years engineering management experience in product development from design process to production and fulfillment.
- Experience, which may have been gained concurrently, must include:
- 5 years experience in the following areas: strategic sourcing and global supplier/vendor management in a manufacturing environment; purchasing, manufacturing plan, production scheduling, inventory management and delivery; product design review working with global engineering teams, vendors and partners; and quality inspection, control, and continuous improvements.
- 3 years of mechanical design experience using Solidworks and injection molding.
- 2 years of engineering and manufacturing experience in fitness wearables with associated hardware supply base.
- 2 years of supplier contract management and negotiation experience with suppliers in North America and Asia.
- The position requires approximately 25% travel to suppliers, distributors and manufacturers in North America and Asia.
- This role is full-time based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA with the ability to work remote 1 day per week. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
