The Colossal Spider Web of ATG Alumni

ATG (Art Technology Group) was one of Boston's anchor tech companies before its acquisition by Oracle in 2011 for $1B. The company was founded in 1991 by MIT alums, Jeet Singh and Joe Chung, as a web development firm helping companies build out first generation eCommerce websites like Moviefone.

The company grew rapidly during the dot-com era and evolved into a leading eCommerce and CRM software company. ATG went public in 1999 and at its height, the company had a valuation of $6.6B and approximately 1,200 employees.

Many of its alumni have either gone on to be a founder or are in a leadership role for a company in the Boston tech scene. Below is a slideshow with many of these people.

Thanks to Jeet Singh, Joe Chung, and Bob Mason for their help in reviewing this list. Although I was provided with many more names (Chris Record, Rob DeMillo, Ken Volpe, and others), I had to put my own parameters on this list. Otherwise, it would have been way too long. My parameters were:

*  Current role must be a founder, C-level, or VP
*  Based in the Boston area (although I did make one exception for Phil Libin)
*  Must have worked at ATG for more than a couple of years

*** Fun side note. Tim Rowe (now, Founder & CEO of the Cambridge Innovation Center) was an early intern at ATG.
