Position Overview:
As we continue to scale, were looking for a hands-on Finance Manager who will play a crucial role in managing our financial operations, driving strategic planning, and ensuring fiscal discipline across the company.
The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing financial planning and analysis, including fiscal year planning, monthly forecasting, and ensuring our accounting firm delivers timely and accurate financial reports. You will work closely with department leads to understand their budgets, hold them accountable for spend and identify opportunities for cost optimization. This role will also require strategic thinking to support business growth and operational efficiency, along with hands-on management of accounts payable and receivable.
What Youll Do:
- Fiscal Year Planning: Lead the development and execution of the company's annual budget and financial forecast, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly financial comparisons of forecast vs. actual results, identifying variances, and providing actionable insights to senior leadership as well as prepare analysis and outcomes for quarterly Board meetings.
- Accounting Oversight: Manage the relationship with the external accounting firm, ensuring timely, accurate preparation of financial statements and tax filings.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with department heads to track spending, provide insights on budget performance, and hold teams accountable for staying within budget.
- Strategic Planning: Provide strategic financial support to help drive business decisions, including cash flow management, profitability analysis, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Invoice Management: Oversee the AP and AR processing with accounting firm, ensuring timely payments to vendors and accurate invoicing to customers.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, ensuring the business has sufficient liquidity for operations and growth.
- Compliance & Controls: Maintain strong internal controls over financial processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws. Work with the accounting firm, legal teams, Head of Compliance and executive team to ensure compliance.
- Ad-Hoc Analysis: Provide analysis and recommendations for ad-hoc projects as required by the business (examples include working on sales compensation planning, modeling product usage, pricing models, etc).
Requirements
Who You Are:
- Finance Maven: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial forecasting, and strategic financial planning. Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or MBA is a plus). 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles, ideally within a fast-growing startup or tech company. Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general financial operations.
- Client Facing Experience and 3rd Party Management: Experience in managing relationships with external accounting firms or financial service providers as well as a polished, client-facing persona that represents Maven to external stakeholders.
- Collaborative Colleague: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and department leads to influence and manage budgets, understand the business needs and leverage data-driven decision making to improve outcomes.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Possess both strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- High Executive Functioning Skills: Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in Key Toolsets: Strong proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Excel).
