At VentureFizz, we have always supported diversity, equality, and inclusion, but there is more that needs to be done and I'm hoping our voice can make a difference.
Today is Juneteenth, which celebrates the emancipation of Black people from slavery in the United States.
In recognition of this often overlooked holiday, we chose today to launch a new series on VentureFizz called Black in Tech. This series will share the stories of Black professionals in the tech industry at all levels of responsibility and across all different types of job functions, which are also often overlooked.
We are aiming for the same level of impact that we've seen from our Lead(H)er series, which profiles women in leadership roles in tech. By sharing these inspirational stories of Black professionals, we want to celebrate their contributions in tech and hope this plays a part in making some lasting change in terms of diversity while encouraging others to get involved in the tech industry.
A special "Thank You" goes out to Jason Jones (Digital Recruitment Marketer at DraftKings), Dr. Kiera Penpeci (Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Business Partner at Drift), Abbey Cohn (Senior People Operations Associate at EverQuote), and Darryl Auguste (EVP, Strategic Projects at EverQuote), who all helped bring this very important and meaningful new series together.
Make sure you check out the first edition of Black in Tech, which actually features Darryl from EverQuote (noted above).
