He began his career in research and development focusing on speech recognition, text-to-speech synthesis, and conversational AI, contributing to systems used in voice assistants like Alexa, Siri, and automotive interfaces. Faulkner later transitioned into product management, strategy, and operational leadership roles at Nuance Communications. Before being appointed CEO at SmartBear, he co-founded and sold a technology startup and served as Chief Product Officer at SmartBear.
