Video Transcript:

Hi everyone. I’m an engineering manager on the growth team here at Whoop. As an engineering manager, my role is really about enabling my team to do their best work. That includes supporting the growth of the developers on the team, helping set technical direction, and making sure we’re delivering high quality features that positively impact our members. Additionally, I work closely with our cross functional partners in product design, analytics, and marketing to translate high-level ideas to production code.

A typical day usually starts with checking in on the team. The team kicks things off with daily standup where everyone shares their updates. I usually have a few one-on-ones to check in with my teammates individually and then I jump into wherever else I’m needed. Whether that’s helping unblock issues, prepping for a product launch, gaining alignment cross-functionally for kicking off a new project, or focusing on hiring and interviewing. What I love the most about my role is the mix. Some days are very people focused and others are more strategic or technical.

Prior to Whoop, I was an engineering manager on growth at Strava. It’s where I found my love for the growth way of product development using rapid experimentation to test hypotheses and make data driven product decisions that benefit both the end user as well as the company. It’s also where I fell in love with fitness technology and ultimately what attracted me to Whoop. Building health and well-being focused features on Whoop directly improve the lives of our members. I get to point to various parts of the Whoop experience and say I helped build that and that’s the most rewarding part of my role.

My advice would be to come in curious and ready to take ownership. Whoop moves fast and there’s a lot of trust given to both individuals and teams to help drive real impact. Being comfortable with ambiguity, showing up as a strong team player who leads with humility, and genuinely caring about the mission goes a long way. If you’re excited to learn, grow, and build something that’s really cool and truly helps members, you’ll do really well here.
