Introduction

Hi, my name is Ayella Grainer and I am the people operations specialist here at Pursuit. I support our talent acquisition efforts and help create a positive and engaging experience for candidates throughout the hiring process.

Who is PERSUIT?

Pursuit is a legal tech company helping enterprise legal teams improve the way that they manage and engage with outside counsel. So, our technology makes the legal process more efficient and transparent and data driven, helping teams make smarter decisions and get better value.

Qualities they look for in an ideal candidate

At Pursuit, we look for people who are curious and collaborative and excited to grow. So strong communication skills, adaptability, and willingness to learn are all really important because of the environment we work in and the pace that we move at. A big part of that really comes back to our values and the culture that we continue to build in.

One of our core values is own it. We really value people who take initiative and accountability in their work. Another value we talk about a lot is no egos, no politics, just team. And that really reflects the collaborative and supportive culture that we build at Pursuit. And because we’re constantly evolving, we look for people who are excited about challenges and motivated by growth, which also ties closely to another one of our values: We do hard things.

So at the end of the day, sure, your skills matter, but attitude and humility and just being a great teammate are all just as important.

General interview process

Our interview process is designed to be thoughtful and transparent and conversational. So typically candidates will start with an introductory conversation with a member of our talent team, followed by a conversation with the hiring manager. Then, depending on the role, candidates might also complete a practical exercise or a case study component that gives them the opportunity to really showcase how they think through real scenarios. This stage also gives candidates the opportunity to meet with potential teammates and cross-functional partners that they might work closely with.

The final conversation is typically with a member of our executive leadership team. So you may speak with our CEO and founder Jim Delus or our COO Michelle Landy. Throughout the process, we really encourage candidates to ask questions because we want the experience to feel like a genuine two-way conversation.

Tips to stand out in that process

My biggest advice is to be authentic and genuine. I’d say show enthusiasm for pursuit and the role that you’re applying for. Come prepared with thoughtful questions and spend a little bit of time researching us and our mission.

I’d say candidates really stand out when they can share real examples of how they’ve worked through challenges and collaborated with others and have really made an impact. And honestly, I’d say don’t focus on being perfect. Focus on being genuine because curiosity and energy and the attitude that you have really stand out throughout the process.

Why you should be excited to join PERSUIT

There’s a lot to be excited about at Pursuit right now. We’re at a really exciting stage of growth where people can make an impact and help shape the future of the company and work alongside incredibly smart and supportive teammates.

One thing that really stands out to me about Pursuit is the opportunity for growth. Career paths here aren’t always linear. We’ve had people move from customer success into product, from sales into marketing, and into completely new opportunities across the business. People here are really encouraged to explore new opportunities, bring new ideas to the table, and continue growing professionally and personally.

The culture is collaborative, it’s fast-paced, it’s innovative, and people really want to see each other succeed. So, I’d say if you’re someone who’s super motivated and curious and excited to grow, Pursuit is a really exciting place to be right now.
