Keith: Michael, thanks so much for joining us.

Michael Parker: Great to be here today, Keith. Glad to talk to you.

Keith: Yeah, I’m excited to talk to you. Uh, so we’re going to talk about ReversingLabs. In the world of cyber security, there’s a lot going on, and for good reason. So, where does ReversingLabs sit in the whole ecosystem?

Michael Parker: Oh, that’s… well, I would say first off, you have to understand sort of what our what our mission is and then where where we sit in it. There’s so many cyber security companies that are out there. Um, and really our our mission is to provide trust and assurance for every digital asset for an organization. And that can be anywhere from a piece of software to containers, their VMs, their AI and ML, and then down to their files.

And at the core, you say like where do we sit? Uh, we’re a 15-year-old company and our legacy is understanding whether or not that file that you have is good or bad. In fact, we’re so good at identifying that, over 60 other cyber security companies, including 20% of the Fortune 100, use us for that. They take our data right now, so they can have that level of trust and assurance in the file in the files that they’ve got. And that’s our core competency.

So, what we’ve done over the years is we started, you know, really small. We, hey, can we tell if this file is good or bad? And then we said, wow, we can do large volumes of files that are, is this malware? Is there anything that’s bad in there? And so we continued to grow. We continued to grow our insights. In fact, we have the largest threat repository in the world right now. About 422 billion files that we track on a daily basis.

And our ability to know whether or not it’s good or bad or what’s bad in it has grown from a single file to large volumes of files to huge multi-gigabyte files actually all the way up. Now we can do full software applications and tell you if there’s something in there that you need to be concerned about all without looking at source code. We don’t need any source code at all.

So that is really the critical juncture where you see that ReversingLabs is a leader in malware analysis and threat hunting. And because we can do all the way up to full software applications, we’re actually a leader in the software supply chain security space which is really growing very fast. That’s really kind of burst into the headlines back in the early 2020s, you know, with the SolarWinds attack. Um, in fact, after their incident, now they’re a customer right now with us. So, everybody who wants to make sure that they don’t get hit with a software supply chain attack is coming to us right now.

Keith: So, who are the typical customers that ReversingLabs is working with?

Michael Parker: Well, there’s and again there’s there’s numerous right now. If you look on the ability to sort of check the disposition of a file, good or bad, the malware analysis, as I said, um we work with some of the largest organizations right now in the world. They’re the Fortune… 20% of the Fortune 100 uses us. Um we’re not at liberty to say some of their names, you can understand why, but we’re tied in with their security teams, their SOCs, so they’re checking their data. They’re doing the triage. What’s critical for them is critical verdicts. Is this file good? Is this bad? The attachment that came into my email. I’ve got these huge, you know, um millions of files that may be coming in a day that I need to check. That’s where we really excel is in the uh in the volume that we do there.

And the flip side on the software supply chain security side, again, we’re looking for 100 companies who are using us. SolarWinds is a customer that uses us. People are familiar with their story. 3CX also after their incident came to work with us. We even have smaller organizations that are using us right now. Um, in fact, there are organizations they won’t ship a piece of software without ReversingLabs going through it. We’re the only stop ship in their SDLC, and we have large financial organizations. They won’t let a piece of commercial software come in their four walls unless it has our clean bill of health.

Keith: So, what’s the latest at the company like uh, you know, number of employees or any other recent news that you can share?

Michael Parker: Well, um, God, so much news going. We’re at about 300 employees right now. Um, as since I’ve come in over the last two years, it’s really been, you know, companies, you want to go to a company that has second and third lives, and we’re really kind of in the second life here, which is really exciting for ReversingLabs, um, or RL as we refer to it now.

Um, is, you know, we continue to be recognized by the analysts. I think starting last year, I mean, we had the most analyst recognitions. We hit so many hype cycles in 2024. We’re about to get into those again this year. Just called out in the market leaders guide for software supply chain security.

We have great threat research that’s coming out. Uh, this past year we identified, you see, an AI malware attack on the Hugging Face platform and we worked with them to get to clean it up—that was called Nullify. Actually, even today there is a new threat attack that we’ve identified. My, you know, my Slack keeps filling up with the articles that are being written on that. And more customers are are really willing to step forward and talk about how they’re using us.

So, I think it’s our growth in terms of what we have for employees. We’ve increased our portfolio as I say, not just on the malware analysis side, but on the software supply chain side, and um I think just watching what’s happening on the side of those markets are just are just critical. It’s a great time to come in and help build our awareness, talk about the quality of our products and really drive clarity in our differentiations, um, either in building those or in taking that to the market or even on the sales team to help sell those.

Keith: So, once someone joins the team at ReversingLabs, like what’s the culture like? What’s it like to work there?

Michael Parker: Um, I think we’re we’re an all-in kind of culture and a very lean-in culture here. So, one, it’s very welcoming. Everybody comes on in. Um, we’re always glad to have new members of the team. Um, we want to enable everybody when they come in. I know, uh, from my side, me or my managers, we build 30, 60, 90-day plans. We want to make sure that they’re as successful as possible.

We also believe in the ownership here. This is what you’re going to be doing. You know, go out there and and be successful. So, our goal is we give as much much reinforcement and support to the teams that come in. But we bring people in because we want them to work with us to help us. And it’s a very, you know, very collaborative environment for people working together. I from me working with the development team to the executive leaders to the product management team to my team the product marketing team and even working with the sales team, we all get there together.

Um specifically though, we have, you know, five, you know, high five core values that we have here which really help guide our culture. You know, Act with Purpose, which I think, you know, make sure we know what we’re doing and starting our mission. We have Boldly Raise the Bar, we want everybody to be pushing that envelope in how we do things. Lead with Resilience. Um, leading is important. You can always be a leader at whatever you are for, uh, for what you got in front of you. But, uh, tech, high-tech, and cyber security is hard. So, how do we keep going moving forward?

And I love Impact Together because that’s one of our other core values. Um, and that is what I talked about previously is we succeed as a team. Uh, no one person has to bear all of this. No one no one is has to do this all alone. And I think as you can see in what I do, we have Passion in all We Do because that’s sort of uh you have to be passionate about what we do here. Uh I love the work I’m doing. I’m doing some of the best work of my life here. My team is doing great work. But it’s only good if we’re working together, helping to promote it, get those leads in, help our sales team and our SEs. Let’s close those deals. What’s the new feature we got to put out? Um and there is competition, but that’s that’s cyber security. We’re all used to that.

Keith: Now, top-tier talent regardless of market conditions, they always have different opportunities in front of them. So, why is now the ideal time to join ReversingLabs?

Michael Parker: The thing I would look at that is you want to be going to an organization. If if you’re top-tier talent, you want to go somewhere, and I talked to people, talked to a candidate just yesterday. The candidate is not just about getting a job. He wants to come to an organization where he can make an impact. And so when you look at top-tier talent, they want to make an impact, and at ReversingLabs that is absolutely the opportunity to do that here because qualified people get the opportunity to the what they will do will either impact the product, impact how we go to market, impact our revenue that’s here. So you all have that opportunity to come in and be here. And I think honestly that’s why would they come here is to do that.

So, one is the ability to make that difference from a professional career. You always want to have a feather in your cap, and I can see that at ReversingLabs. The other is the growth opportunity. And, you know, we we already one of the leaders in malware analysis and threat hunting if depending on which side you’re going to be coming into. The the wars for cyber software supply chain security are really just… that’s just about to happen. You’re seeing a lot of momentum here. Um, they just got off the phone with the analysts and with customers. That market is really just coming into uh to growing right now. And if you’re looking to make an impact to be a part of that, if you show up at an older cyber security company, they’ve already established themselves. We’re about to take a market. And that’s what’s really exciting when you talk about growth, making an impact and why top tier should come here. So, you can say you were a part of that and you helped influence that and you helped make that a reality. And I think that’s a difference in what we do here at ReversingLabs.

Keith: Well, if you are interested in exploring opportunities at ReversingLabs, you need to go to their company page on VentureFizz, which has all their job listings there. Go to venturefizz.com/reversinglabs and you’ll see their openings. Michael, thanks so much for taking the time to walk us through all the great details on the company.

Michael Parker: It’s a pleasure to talk with you today. I really appreciate it.
