We are seeking a VP, Talent Attraction & Acquisition Leader for our US Retail Markets (USRM) business.
As the Head of Recruiting for USRM—Liberty Mutual’s $26 billion premium business—you will play a critical role at the intersection of talent strategy and business execution. Reporting jointly to the Head of Talent Acquisition and the USRM Chief Talent Officer, you will lead the design and execution of recruiting solutions that anticipate, shape, and deliver against the organization’s most strategic talent needs.
This is a highly visible executive leadership role for a talent acquisition leader who can connect business priorities to forward-looking recruiting strategies, influence senior stakeholders, and build strong, high-performing teams. You will ensure recruiting is deeply embedded in business strategy and positioned to drive meaningful outcomes—helping Liberty Mutual compete for and secure top talent in a dynamic and highly competitive market.
The ideal candidate is an experienced people leader with a demonstrated ability to develop, coach, and inspire teams of recruiting managers, recruiters, and talent sourcers. This leader will bring strategic acumen, strong business partnership skills, and the executive presence needed to influence clients, partners, and senior leaders while advancing exceptional recruiting experiences that attract, engage, and hire top talent.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as a senior leader across both the Talent Acquisition and USRM Talent organizations, setting recruiting strategy and building strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders, talent partners, and team members.
- Act as a strategic connector between Talent Acquisition and business leadership, translating business priorities into clear recruiting strategies and execution plans.
- Participate deeply in senior leadership forums, proactively identifying talent implications and aligning recruiting execution with both short- and long-term business plans.
- Monitor external market trends and competitive intelligence, identifying opportunities, emerging roles, and risks that may influence USRM hiring and workforce strategy.
- Set and execute recruiting strategies across a complex, multi-functional USRM hiring portfolio, partnering across Talent Acquisition capabilities including Early Talent, Recruiting Process Outsourcing, and TA Operations.
- Develop and present business-aligned recruiting recommendations, including rapid response strategies to market changes such as acquisitions, competitor movement, or evolving talent demands.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of recruiting and sourcing leaders, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, accountability, and best-practice sharing.
- Leverage data, technology, and GenAI-enabled solutions to improve recruiting effectiveness, enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and elevate the candidate and hiring manager experience.
- Advise executive and business leaders on talent trends, pipeline health, labor market intelligence, and compensation benchmarking positioning Liberty Mutual as an employer of choice.
- Partner across Talent Business Partners, Compensation, and Learning & Development to address succession gaps and strengthen strategic pipelining for critical roles.
- Measure and optimize recruiting performance, with a focus on quality, process efficiency, service delivery, and an exceptional candidate experience.
- Oversee external search partner relationships, establishing a strong preferred provider model and driving accountability for outcomes.
- Partner with Compensation and Total Rewards to develop and communicate competitive, market-informed offers that support successful hiring outcomes.
- Create strong operating rhythms and service standards, ensuring recruiters are deeply knowledgeable about their business areas and consistently exceed stakeholder and candidate expectations.
- Champion equity and inclusive hiring practices across the recruiting lifecycle, driving diverse candidate slates and fair, effective hiring processes.
- Ensure excellence in service delivery across the assigned requisition portfolio, providing coaching and guidance to team members to drive timely, effective, and consistent execution.

- Demonstrated success developing and leading high-performing recruiting teams.
- Ability to translate business strategy into talent acquisition priorities and scalable recruiting solutions.
- Experience leveraging market intelligence, talent data, and workforce insights to inform decision-making.
- Track record of driving operational excellence, process improvement, and service delivery at scale.
- Experience evaluating or applying technology, automation, and GenAI tools to improve recruiting outcomes and team effectiveness.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to partner effectively across HR, compensation, learning, and business leadership.
- Commitment to inclusive hiring practices and delivering exceptional candidate and hiring manager experiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience plus at least 10+ years of progressively more responsibility required. Prior insurance recruiting experience desired with executive-level Talent Acquisition ownership of a large or complex recruiting portfolio.
- Customer and stakeholder focused with the ability to link business with recruiting strategies.
- Influential leader with an inclusive mindset and demonstrated relationship building ability.
- Effective interpersonal skills needed to create and enhance partnerships with internal and external customers, including verbal and written communications.
- Ability to organize, lead and get work done through others
- Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of insurance industry and products.
- Advanced analytical skills to interpret business information drawn from multiple sources to make critical decisions.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
