I’m Joe Mujalli, a senior talent partner here at Wasabi. Wasabi’s a 9-year-old Boston-based scaleup offering simple, affordable, and secure data storage.
We have what we call hot culture here at Wasabi. So that’s an acronym that stands for humility, ownership, and togetherness. So that’s the DNA of Wasabians. We look for people that are humble and open to learning from others, and take pride in owning the full scope of their role or beyond. And of course are team players and understand the value of collaboration.
Typically, we start with a 30-minute video call with someone from the talent team. We outline the role, the team that you be part of. Make sure things like compensation, logistics, you know, those factors align with your goals. And then we’ll walk through some of the highlights of your past roles so that we understand what your strengths are, what some of your professional motivations are. The next step is where you’d meet with your potential manager. And that’s going to be a deeper dive into, you know, the day-to-day aspects of the role, expectations for success, potential growth paths. And then the other conversations after that are basically meeting with teammates and stakeholders, you know, so you get to know the people that you’d be interacting with most often. And then sometimes there’s a final round interview where you meet a senior member of the business unit. But then everyone’s favorite stage is of course offer. So your talent partner like myself and our great people ops team will be available to go over any questions, make sure you have a clear understanding of compensation benefits and you know what the total rewards package looks like. Throughout the entire process, your talent partner will be a resource, help with scheduling, you know, timeline updates, and provide any more information if needed.
I definitely recommend doing some prep work ahead of time. You know, checking out our website, our socials. We’re always iterating and adding new product offerings and enhancements to the marketplace. And in your research, see if you have any personal connections in your network that might work here. Referrals are a huge focus for us. They’ve been a great way for us to grow. And having a conversation with a Wasabian that you’re friendly with, you know, ahead of time would be a great way to gain some insight into who we are and prepare you for your interview.
I’ve remained excited here over the past few years. You know, we sort of have that startup energy, but the stability and resources of a large enterprise. You know, we respect and value our teammates and view people as our greatest asset. I personally love being a challenger to the marketplace and helping our customers achieve their goals. And I love when I’ve helped people in the interview process land here and really see them succeed in their new professional home.
