QA Automation Lead

The QA Automation Lead is responsible for elevating quality engineering practices and scaling Tripleseat’s test automation capabilities. This role is pivotal in advancing from foundational testing to a mature CI/CD pipeline, enabling faster, safer, and more reliable releases.
This individual defines the QA strategy, mentors team members, and collaborates with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to drive quality across the platform. The QA Automation Lead leverages technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a strong bias for automation to optimize testing processes and improve overall platform reliability.

For candidates located outside the Concord, MA area: Initial onboarding at the Concord, MA office, followed by periodic in-office visits and travel for company events.
Core Responsibilities:
Drive Test Automation and QA Strategy:

Architect and execute a comprehensive QA Automation strategy aligned with building a fully automated CI/CD pipeline.

Lead an automation-first, shift-left testing approach across the SDLC.

Define and implement an end-to-end test strategy, covering unit, integration, regression, performance, and smoke tests.

Expand and maintain automation frameworks using Cypress, Playwright, Vitest, and other tools.

Collaborate with DevOps to seamlessly integrate automated testing into CI/CD workflows.

Establish and track KPIs on quality and developer experience to continuously improve release quality, test coverage, and defect rates.
Champion Quality Across the Organization:

Act as the primary QA leader for engineering teams, reviewing test plans, providing coaching, and enforcing quality gates.

Partner with Product, Engineering, DevOps, Performance, and UAT teams to ensure test scenarios reflect real-world hospitality use cases.

Define best practices for balancing automation and manual testing.

Mentor junior QA team members and influence hiring needs.

Ensure early detection of usability, performance, and edge-case issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

8+ years of QA/Dev experience, including 2+ years in a senior or lead QA role.

Deep hands-on experience with modern testing frameworks (RSpec, Cypress, Playwright, Vitest).

Proven track record in building automation pipelines integrated with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).

Solid understanding of web technologies: JavaScript, React, HTML/HAML.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and DevOps practices.

Self-motivated with strong communication, collaboration, and prioritization skills.

A customer-focused attitude with the ability to build rapport across teams.
Preferred Experience:

Experience as a software engineer, particularly in Rails or full-stack environments.

Familiarity with AI tools to accelerate QA (e.g., test generation, root cause analysis).

Knowledge of observability and SAST/DAST tools (e.g., New Relic, SonarQube, OWASP).
-
Background in hospitality tech is a plus.
