What we need

Symbotic is seeking a Manager to join our Mobile Robotics Control team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the core of our automation platform— Symbot, our intelligent mobile robot. You’ll be part of a highly skilled team responsible for developing advanced control solutions that power the storage and retrieval operations in fully autonomous warehouses, with hundreds of robots at each customer site.

We’re looking for a creative and collaborative individual who thrives in an agile development environment and is passionate about solving real-world robotics challenges. This role requires not only deep technical expertise but also strong communication and leadership skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

What we do

We are a talented team of roboticists working on the heart of Symbotic’s automation solution – Symbot, the mobile robot. We are responsible for delivering solutions for the storage and retrieval of cases performed in a fully autonomous structure operating 1,000s of Symbots at customer sites.

What you'll do

  • Lead the identification and resolution of problems in robotics control software for mobile platforms.

  • Drive the development of simulation and validation tools to support robust software engineering.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software teams to plan and deliver high-quality software releases.

  • Ensure project plans and delivery commitments are met on-time.

  • Coach, mentor, and lead a diverse group of 10-15 software engineers, helping them to grow technically and professionally.

  • Promote and instill best practices in software engineering development.

  • Help attract and develop top tier talent through recruitment activities and workforce development.

What you'll need

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing software development teams.

  • M.S. or B.S. in Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience leading teams in an Agile development environment.

  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex robotics systems.

  • Strong understanding of robotics control software and real-time systems.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: perception, estimation, planning, or controls.

  • Proficiency in C++ and familiarity with general-purpose programming environments, scripting languages, data analysis tools, Linux, and version control systems such as Git.

  • Hands-on problem solver with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Our environment

  • Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
