Indirect Tax Manager
Job Description
What we need
As the Indirect Tax Manager, you are a critical member of the corporate tax team and major contributor to the company’s success. You will be responsible for all indirect tax compliance and audits including sales and use, VAT, GST, gross receipts and property tax analysis and mitigation as well as systems improvements and integration. You will work closely with customers, vendors, finance, and assist them with tax questions. This role will report to the Senior Director, Tax.
What we do
The Accounting team is part of the Finance organization, which is a critical financial business partner for the Company. Finance functions include General Accounting, Accounts Payable & Receivable, Internal Audit, FP&A and Tax. Our Finance team is a trusted source of financial information and guidance for our internal customers, partners, customers, suppliers, regulators, and stakeholders.
What you’ll do

Manage and ensure timely and accurate preparation, filing, and payment of all indirect tax returns (sales & use, property, VAT/GST, etc.)

Partner with accounting, finance, and legal teams to ensure compliance and accurate documentation

Advise IT and project teams on updates to software as needed to ensure compliance with tax laws

Complete business registrations as we grow into new jurisdictions and maintain existing registrations as needed.

Utilize tools to streamline end to end compliance processes

Respond to tax audits, notices and inquiries from taxing authorities and address any audit findings in a timely manner

Answer customer and vendor questions related to tax determination as needed

Support SOX Compliance requests
What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree, finance or accounting preferred

Minimum 8 years of multi-state sales and use tax experience in a medium/large corporate tax department or accounting firm, Indirect tax experience in US required

Experience in MX / CA a plus

Strong understanding of indirect tax laws and principles

Experience with sales/use tax software and basic understanding of business applications and technology systems in support of operational processes

Proactive, self-reliant and the ability to prioritize multiple projects

Knowledge of accounting principles and internal control requirements
Our environment

Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
