The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

This role is within the GRS Strategy and Alignment team, which is responsible for orchestrating the development of the long-term strategy for the commercial and specialty (re)insurance business and driving strategic discussions with the leadership team.
We seek an individual with the desire to work in a collaborative, high-performance, and high-visibility culture, capable of working cross-functionally throughout the organization. This role will require broad strategic thinking, project management experience, and the ability to enable strategic discussions with GRS leadership.
This role is ideal for those who want to:
- Develop their capabilities in strategy development and strategic execution
- Gain exposure to Liberty’s commercial, specialty, and retail insurance and reinsurance operations across the globe
- Work on high-priority strategic initiatives related to global SBU-wide strategy
Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute to the GRS strategic dialogue, including supporting the development of the long-term business strategy and the execution of strategic projects
- Manage strategic projects, including those considered complex in nature with business-wide impact (e.g., strategically important, technical in nature)
- Define the business case for strategic projects with input from stakeholders. Identify and gain agreement on project objectives, scope, timing, and resources
- Plan activities/tasks that will deliver the desired project results and oversee day-to-day work and monitoring of progress towards goals
- Conduct status update meetings and prepare regular reports to communicate the status of strategic projects to stakeholders within and beyond the project team
- Direct stakeholders towards consensus points and gain buy-in of recommendations
- Escalate and work to resolve issues that serve as roadblocks and/or place project objectives at risk. Identify and provide visibility into trade-offs between options and influences recommended approach.
- In addition to strategic project management responsibilities, also support the development of executive level materials, including updates to the GRS leadership team and the LMG board of directors
- Actively monitor and analyze market trends and the competitive landscape to inform strategic project execution and to share insights across the broader GRS Strategy & Corporate Development team
- Provide mentoring to less experienced staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, operations, finance or other related field. MBA or other relevant advanced degree desired
- Minimum 5 years of relevant general business experience, to include experience with consulting, strategic planning, operations, and project management
- Demonstrated understanding of the commercial and specialty (re)insurer market, potentially showcased by professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, ARe, etc.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles and concepts. Strong ability to manage all aspects of the project management life cycle and proficient with related tools
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills
- Advanced presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills
- High degree of reliability and integrity. Must also be driven and flexible enough to succeed in ambiguous and less structured situations.
- Travel required up to 10%, which may include both US and International
