Principal Test Engineer

Description
- Under limited supervision, participate as a technical expert in planning, analysis, test design/test development, test execution, and debugging new software or significant enhancements to existing software to achieve desired results and documents appropriate aspects of those deliverables.
- Develop and enhances complex testing solutions from general requirements and specifications.
Analyze complex technical system problems. - Lead projects or sub-projects and coordinates rollouts of moderate scope. May provide coaching and guidance to other team members.
- Build test engineering processes and procedures that can be used across the enterprise for effective testing of all application sprints running on varied technical platforms.
- Collaborate with developers and architects to promote enterprise shift-left techniques and whitebox/graybox testing objectives including Code coverage analysis, Static code analysis / tooling, Service virtualization, Continuous integration, Automated build and deploy, Continuous delivery, Test driven / behavior driven development.
- Initiate and lead strategic quality initiatives for the department (e.g. test data management, environment virtualization, security testing).
- Provide technical vision for highly complex ideas and issues to varied audiences including various management levels communicates project objectives, scope and direction across project teams.
- Consult on major, complex design considerations. Provide guidance in the selection of project structure/methodology, work schedules, cost estimates and responsible for managing QA effort to defined plan.
- Lead a variety of quality assurance reviews of business requirements, system design and user acceptance test. Implements testing automation within the pipelines and provide quality status reports.
- Mentor junior test engineers.
- Travel required up to 10%.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 100%.
Qualifications
Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Software or Electrical Engineering or related field and minimum 8 years of experience in the job offered or in a Principal Test Engineer-related occupation.
Position requires demonstrable experience in the following:
- Automated testing and modeling tool SmartBear’s TestComplete.
- Broad knowledge of business modeling, process engineering, change management and test case generation techniques.
- Ability to plan and implement all aspects of the testing process in application areas that have no current testing support.
- Extensive knowledge of development concepts and industry trends/direction for cloud technologies and CI/CD concepts, specifically how to implement testing automation within the pipelines.
- Knowledge of quality measurement, status reporting.
- Manual and automated testing.

- Agile scrum.
- Travel required up to 10%.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 100%.
