Pay Philosophy

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Looking for an exciting opportunity to define and support the data strategy with USRM? Come join the US Retail Markets Data Strategy team and work closely with other individuals in the Data Office (DO), our partners in IT and our stakeholders in the business. Our team is made up of performance-driven problem solvers who are passionate about effectively leveraging data across every layer of our business. The USRM Data Office has been on a journey of modernization to leverage the power of the cloud. With those benefits come new complexities around security and risk. As our upstream partners continue to modernize their applications that create data, and our analytics partners downstream desire faster speed to insight we are now on the phase of our data strategy which is around Data Simplification.

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

  • A storyteller, someone who can translate technical concepts into compelling narratives for a broad audience, through both written and oral mechanisms
  • A collaborator, someone who can work easily across organizational hierarchies to create momentum towards a common goal
  • Business-oriented,someone who understands the real-world impact of data efforts on business operations
  • Financially-savvy,someone who approaches data as an investment and can clearly articulate its costs and benefits
  • Data-literate,someone who is familiar with the volume and types of data managed by the Data Office and how data flows through our architecture
  • Comfortable with ambiguity,someone who can develop clarity for themselves and others while operating in ahighly ambiguous context, using informal influence to drive forward progress
  • Open-minded and broad-thinking,someone who seeks diverse perspectives and considers all angles of a problem inorder to arrive at the best possible outcome for Liberty Mutual as a whole
  • A clear and direct communicator, someone who is comfortable sharing their perspective at all levels of the organization, who can represent USRM’s business needs to enterprise partners and vice versa

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Experience in communicating recommendations to senior business leaders preferred
  • BA/BS, or relevant work experience, in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative discipline strongly preferred
  • 5-7+ years of experience working in coding methodologies and design principles, particularly in open source tools and technology
