Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role ($108,000 – $135,000) is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Hybrid location preference: Boston MA, Portsmouth NH, Seattle WA, Plano TX. 2 days in office.
As a Principal Data Strategist within a Data Office team, you will be a driving force behind transforming our organization and supporting business goals through cutting-edge data initiatives. As part of a team, you’ll manage project workstreams and act as a liaison to embed data strategy into large, strategic priorities. You’ll not only manage impactful data projects, but also develop and mature governance, privacy, security, and risk management practices to steer an overall data strategy vision alongside our Enterprise Data Practice partners. Using creative storytelling and communication, you will mature and inspire a data-driven culture amongst stakeholders and data consumers. You’ll research and understand industry trends, explain complex data concepts for diverse audiences, and lead cross-functional teams to tackle real business challenges with data.
Responsibilities:
- Set a data strategy vision by looking outward to understanding emerging trends and business needs.
- Develop an enablement strategy to deliver value-driven use cases aligned to business needs.
- Develop a maturity strategy focused on advancing data fundamentals. The initial focus of this role will be to develop a strategy to advance in risk management and data privacy. Other strategic projects will be assigned as needed.
- Update and present to senior leaders and executives to align on the vision and data impact.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the data strategy.
- Communicate the data strategy and its progress to stakeholders to gain buy-in.
- Lead and oversee the execution of large-scale data initiatives and projects.
- Partner with product owners, analysts, and engineers to enable strategic initiatives.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the organization to encourage data literacy and data-driven decisions.
- Champion data initiatives and secure support from stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute strategies aligned with business goals.
- Proficient in translating complex data strategies into compelling narratives that drive decision-making.
- Expertise and experience in data governance, privacy, security, and risk management practices and can influence setting future state frameworks
- Demonstrated understanding of Data Analytics platforms and practices, particularly related to industry trends. Skilled in utilizing data visualization techniques to present insights in a storytelling format.
- Experienced in developing high-quality presentations using PowerPoint to clearly communicate key messages.
- Demonstrated expertise in communicating intricate topics effectively to varied stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Experienced in analyzing data to provide compelling recommendations that drive decision outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and execute complex, long-term projects involving multiple teams across the organization.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing platforms (i.e. Snowflake)
- BA/BS or Master’s in Data Analytics, Business Administration, Information Managements, Operational Research or related field; 5-7+ years of experience working in data analytics, data governance, strategic or business planning, project management, and/or technical data management.
