The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

The Manager, Product Strategy & Performance drives growth and profitability across all GRS underwriting units Insurance by driving alignment and consistent risk evaluation in assigned line of business. Conducts complex and in-depth research and analysis to identify, develop, and implement strategic underwriting initiatives, including product marketing strategy, pricing strategy, new product development, underwriting capabilities and underwriting training. Works with the Chief Underwriting Officer of GRS and Senior Management to establish underwriting quality programs and analysis evaluate performance of new products and initiatives, programs and tools.


Responsibilities

  • Establishes a consistent evaluation of risk for assigned and proactively identifies opportunities to drive greater alignment across business segments, where UW segments can leverage diverse capabilities to the best extent possible.
  • Works with Senior Management to set benchmarks and evaluate performance of products, programs, and tools.
  • Sponsors complex projects and feedback groups aimed to drive change globally and build a global underwriting culture and strategy.
  • Sets department priorities on competitor intelligence and drives global strategic initiatives.
  • Delegates analytical and modeling projects and gives direction to staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Monitors existing training and talent development programs across the globe to ensure proper levels of technical training, by position, sophisticated talent pipeline and a proactive drive for diversity.
  • Establishes a consistent approach to QA process and authority protocols across all GRS UW platforms.
  • Validates efficacy of Risk Control process to assist in driving growth and profitability at the industry level through engagement with the regions, divisions or verticals.
  • May establish vendor strategy, managing vendor relationships, and negotiating contracts for service.
  • Establishes a presence in the external market and seeks to develop deep expertise in assigned line of focus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s degree in business, economics, or other quantitative field.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in jobs with progressive responsibility, preferably in insurance.
  • Must have exceptional planning, organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Experience managing individuals or operations required.
  • Excellent analytic, quantitative and problem solving skills proven ability to leverage skills and influence other leaders across the SBU.
  • Expert knowledge of product offerings, business processes, product line systems, underwriting rules, pricing plans and databases.
  • Expert knowledge/expertise of external competitor product offerings, pricing plans
  • Expert understanding of insurance concepts and financial metrics.
