The Director II IC, Product Analysis manages product development, product maintenance, pricing, and profitability and supports the Global Head of Energy Transition in implementing the direction for Energy Transition for GRS. This role engages with brokers and clients to ensure the products remain market leading. Responsible for product-specific capability enhancement decisions, this role drives Energy Transition product development and continuous improvement across Global Risk Solutions (GRS). The role manages cross-dependencies with functional areas to ensure Energy Transition products are fit for purpose and supports efforts to keep products competitive in the global market. The Senior Director I will oversee training related to Energy Transition and lead talent development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Execution & Product Management

  • Supports the Global Head of Energy Transition in implementing product strategies and the annual financial plan for Energy Transition to meet client and broker needs while maintaining profitability.
  • Monitors developments in the macro and regional risk environments that could impact product portfolio performance and works with internal teams to ensure alignment between pricing, risk selection, and portfolio direction.
  • Promotes knowledge sharing of relevant global and regional trends, risk performance results, and claim trends to inform underwriting decisions.
  • Develops and implements plans for identification, quantification, wording approaches, and underwriter training specific to Energy Transition.
  • Reviews and approves new Energy Transition product designs, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders, clients, and brokers.
  • Collaborates with actuarial, claims, and underwriting leadership to ensure products and wordings are appropriate and properly priced.
  • Works with Sustainability and Risk teams to validate assumptions in transition risk scenarios.
  • Establishes guidelines and standards to promote a consistent approach for Energy Transition underwriting and risk services.

Underwriting Capability Development

  • Identifies SBU underwriting investment needs to support effective monitoring and execution, including data capture or strategy.
  • Oversees existing training and talent development programs globally to maintain appropriate technical training levels for Energy Transition.
  • Encourages the sharing of relevant trends and information to support local underwriting strategy.

Talent Management

  • Leads product and/or underwriting analyst professionals in a Team of Teams environment to enable effective global execution of product initiatives.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Extensive Underwriting P&L experience.
  • Strong experience in technical training for Energy Transition.
  • Deep Energy Transition product expertise and underwriting experience, with a working knowledge of relevant products.
  • International experience.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across the organization, including superiors, peers, and direct reports, supporting collaboration and meeting stakeholder needs.
  • Ability to operate and influence in a complex matrix environment, articulating views clearly, analyzing data for insights, weighing alternatives, making decisions, and communicating outcomes.
  • Capability to advocate for Energy Transition topics internally and externally and support alignment of processes, tools, and capabilities across markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and extensive related experience.

Qualifications

  • Highly developed quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence other leaders across an organization 10+ years progressively responsible work experience in an analytically driven environment
  • Previous experience in consulting or call center / customer service analytics in insurance or financial services preferred but not required
  • MBA or advanced degree in quantitative field preferred but not required

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
