The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Remote opportunity unless you are within 50 miles of the following locations: Boston MA, Portsmouth NH, Seattle WA, Indianapolis IN, Columbus OH, Plano TX. If so, this will be hybrid (2 days in office).

Our Talent Practices & Employee Rewards team is seeking a Compensation Advisor to support the compensation strategy for Liberty Mutual.

This role is responsible for effectively balancing compensation needs while ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the organization. As an individual contributor, you will partner closely with the Senior Director of Compensation Advising and the Compensation Design Team to drive and participate in the design and implementation, communication, and change management of global compensation programs. Your role will involve providing innovative and client focused guidance and data driven solutions for staffing and retention challenges, while delivering exceptional consultation and fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a strategic compensation partner, trusted advisor, and analytic and data expert for Talent team and senior business leaders.
  • Supports the implementation of compensation programs and projects across insurance businesses; program areas may include enterprise-wide ad hoc analysis, job evaluation, market pricing and market intelligence, base pay, incentives, and regulatory compliance/reporting/documentation.
  • Uses data to support the design, development, and evolution of compensation programs to better align with current industry trends and competitive landscape.
  • Acts as project manager, team member or advisor on large-scale compensation projects. When necessary, works with outside consultants to conduct special studies on pressing compensation issues.
  • Liaises with the Compensation Design team to ensure business priorities, objectives and perspectives are represented in Compensation Design initiatives. May serve as a resource on enterprise-wide Design initiatives.
  • Handles multiple concurrent and diverse initiatives. Independently and proactively addresses potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments. Re-prioritizes work and reschedules as necessary. Responds to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to redefine and streamline processes. Partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement changes and recommend best practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of compensation programs and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
  • Experience in project management including project scoping, planning, and execution
  • Strong ability to build rapport and trust with client groups in order to positively influence decisions and actions
  • Understanding of business needs and how to leverage compensation expertise to meet those needs; demonstrates flexibility and adaptability
  • Displays strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Advanced ability to manage multiple priorities and address competing points of view
  • Competencies typically acquired through a bachelor`s degree (preferably in Human Resources or Business) or equivalent experience, in addition to 7+ years of relevant and progressively more responsible experience, to include 5+ years of compensation experience
