This role is based out of our corporate headquarters office in Boston. We are a flexible hybrid environment with 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in the office. Please note that we are only accepting candidates that reside in the greater Boston area.

About the Role

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer on the Product Discovery team, you will play a key role in enhancing Labviva’s product data management, enrichment systems, and search functionality. Working within an evolving architecture, you will develop scalable solutions that deliver high-quality data to our platform and create intuitive interfaces that streamline the purchasing experience. Your contributions will empower scientists to efficiently search and navigate millions of data-rich records when ordering equipment, chemicals, and lab consumables.

You enjoy building end-to-end solutions and take a thoughtful approach to design and engineering—balancing business needs with system health, security, and long-term maintainability. This unique role is designed for a versatile engineer passionate about building end-to-end solutions, with a significant focus on data-centric systems. You will dedicate approximately 40% of your time to backend development, 40% to data engineering tasks, and 20% to frontend development.

How You Will Contribute

  • Participate in the design and development of system architecture around data harmonization, data ingestion and ETL.
  • Design and Implement features that apply to:
    • Frontend features, components, and architecture
    • Backend services to support delivery of product data to the platform
    • Search infrastructure and optimizations
  • Participate in planning the future for our technologies, providing meaningful inputs, and supporting advancement of our platform.
  • Mentor, support, collaborate with, and learn from other members of the team as well as other key stakeholders across the company

What You Bring To The Team

  • You have a history of tackling large problems and turning them into executable solutions
  • You have experience as an owner/SME of technical & functional product areas
  • You thrive in an environment with complex problems and multiple solutions
  • You understand how to drive results for team projects\
  • You are experienced with:

Knowledge of some areas of our stack:

    • React
    • Typescript, Node.js, and backend frameworks including Nest.js and Typeorm
    • PostgreSQL utilizing Aurora
    • Kafka
    • Kubernetes and Docker
    • Python
  • Working with Data ETL pipelines
  • Working in a Service Oriented Architecture environment
  • Designing and implementing modern frontend architecture
  • Working with Elasticsearch

Your Experience with the following is a plus:

  • E-commerce platform experience
  • Snowflake or other data warehousing solutions
  • Procurement for scientific applications
  • Tuning Elasticsearch for catalog search applications
  • Maintaining and replatforming legacy platforms (e.g., LAMP stack)
