Job Description
About Eyebot
Eyebot is an outcome-focused technology company on a mission to make vision care accessible to everyone, equally. Headquartered in Boston’s North End and backed by top investors and the National Science Foundation, our vision test kiosk is reshaping how vision care is delivered.
If you are passionate about solving big problems and building the future of vision care, we would love to hear from you.
About The Role
We are looking for curious and motivated engineering interns to assist our software and hardware teams. You’ll work closely with our engineering team to support the development, testing, and improvement of our systems, assist with prototyping and analysis, and contribute to projects that advance our vision care technology.
Note: This is an onsite summer internship based in Boston’s North End. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, and runs for 10–12-weeks. Interns work with the team five days a week to support rapid prototyping and cross-functional collaboration.
What You’ll Do:
-
Work alongside software, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams on projects that directly impact our vision care technology, contributing to design, prototyping, testing, and validation efforts.
-
Conduct experiments and analyses to validate designs, troubleshoot technical challenges, and document findings to inform future iterations.
-
Develop practical engineering skills through mentorship from senior engineers, learning industry-standard tools, methodologies, and cross-functional collaboration.
-
Support specific technical work such as CAD modeling, circuit design, embedded systems development, software features, testing frameworks, and technical documentation.
-
Take ownership of components or features, propose improvements based on your observations, and see the direct impact of your contributions on a product reshaping vision care accessibility.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications
-
For software roles: Experience in programming, web development, and/or robotics, with proficiency in Python and/or C++.
-
For ME roles: Experience with CAD, design and prototyping, with a solid understanding of basic DFA/DFM principles.
-
For EE roles: Experience with PCB design, assembly, testing, and debugging.
-
Highly adaptable and versatile, able to take initiative and work independently.
-
Eager to learn, grow, and contribute across multiple areas of a team environment.
Personality
-
You are energized by fast-paced environments and excited to grow with a startup that is scaling quickly.
-
You take ownership of your work and care deeply about quality.
-
You hold yourself and your teammates to a high bar.
-
You follow through on commitments and take responsibility for outcomes.
-
You bring a low ego and collaborative mindset. You are easy to work with, open to feedback, and able to keep perspective even when things don’t go according to plan.
What We Offer:
-
Pay: $28 per hour.
-
A culture where every idea is welcome, no matter how out there it sounds — that’s how Eyebot got started.
-
Commuter support and wellness benefits.
-
A collaborative office environment in Boston’s North End, with regular team lunches and a great waterfront location.
-
The chance to build products that improve lives and redefine how vision care is delivered.
