Role overview

As the Senior Revenue Accountant, you will be responsible for performing accurate and timely procedures related to revenue recognition and financial reporting. You will assist with a variety of tasks relating to the recording of revenue and deferred revenue, monthly account reconciliations, variance analysis, as well as assist in ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed. You will be responsible for conducting and maintaining processes that are efficient, transparent, and result in the production of accurate financial statement results. The Senior Revenue Accountant works under the general direction of the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting and other senior team members.

What you’ll do

  • Drive detailed analysis as required to ensure accuracy of data within the financial reporting systems
  • Prepare reconciliations and analysis by product type and locations, identify variances, and resolve
  • Support the monthly close process adhering to specific tasks and timelines
  • Review contracts to ensure revenue and related accounts are presented accurately according to ASC 606
  • Assist with establishing third-party data requirements for reconciliations and analysis
  • Partner closely with Enterprise Applications, Product/Pricing, FP&A, and other Finance Operations and Sales teams
  • Identify, create and implement process improvements and drive automation initiatives
  • Prepare technical accounting memos that align with GAAP and support strategic business decisions
  • Prepare and own internal revenue controls
  • Identify and raise key risk areas to members of the SOX team
  • Work closely with enterprise applications team to build and test system configurations based on provided requirements and use cases
  • Lead ad-hoc accounting/finance projects and support other accounting areas as needed

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 2+ years of public accounting experience required; Big 4 or reputable regional firm strongly preferred
  • 4+ years of related experience in accounting required
  • CPA preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (pivot tables, xlookup, sumifs, index match, etc.)
  • Have a strong understanding of the inner workings of the balance sheet and income statement
  • Comprehensive understanding of the full lifecycle of the Order-to-Cash process
  • Have proficient knowledge of the external audit process
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively resolve issues, and develop analytical reconciliations from scratch
  • Possess a focus for process improvements, challenging the status quo
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills are required for frequent interaction with financial and non-financial management teams
  • Requires attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, the ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Be a self-starter with a results-oriented spirit
  • Experience with Salesforce/NetSuite/Zuora Billing/Zuora Revenue (RevPro) is a plus
