What you’ll be part of

Circle is committed to visibility and stability in everything we do. As we grow as an organization, we’re expanding into some of the world’s strongest jurisdictions. Speed and efficiency are motivators for our success and our employees live by our company values: Multistakeholder, Mindfulness, Driven by Excellence and High Integrity. Circlers are consistently evolving in a remote world where strength in numbers fuels team success. We have built a flexible and diverse work environment where new ideas are encouraged and everyone is a stakeholder.

What you’ll be responsible for

As a Senior Accountant on our Regulatory Reporting team, you will own end-to-end accounting and reporting for assigned entities and cost areas, including close, reporting, and controls. You will take full ownership of the month-end close process related to your areas, including statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. Your work will support internal and external reporting, inform business decisions, and improve operational efficiency through automation, AI-powered tools, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a role for someone highly organized, meticulous, deadline-conscious, and accountable — you keep complex, multi-entity workstreams accurate and audit-ready without being asked twice.

What you’ll work on

  • Prepare statutory and regulatory reporting for multiple legal entities across the jurisdictions in which Circle operates.

  • Perform month-end close procedures, including but not limited to preparing management accounts, posting period-end journal entries, performing reconciliations, and reviewing auto-matched transactions within the ERP system.

  • Analyze fluctuations in key balance sheet and P&L accounts to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

  • Prepare support for SEC disclosures and other external financial reporting.

  • Review agreements to ensure accounting complies with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and any local reporting requirements.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, including automation and AI-based enhancements.

  • Own and continuously improve control design and execution, including documentation, testing readiness, and identification of control gaps in line with ICFR/SOX expectations.

  • Take ownership of SOX, audit, and tax compliance efforts by maintaining detailed documentation, proactively managing requests, and influencing outcomes where appropriate.

  • Contribute to special projects and ad hoc accounting analyses as needed.

  • Leverage AI tools and automation platforms to reduce manual processes, improve reporting quality, and increase efficiency in close and reconciliation workflows.

What you’ll bring to Circle

Core requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, whether in Big 4 audit or in-house at a technology, fintech, or financial institution. Prior experience working with or for publicly traded companies is preferred.

  • ACA / CPA / ACCA or equivalent qualification.

  • Working knowledge of IFRS is required; knowledge of U.S. GAAP is strongly preferred.

  • A good grasp of regulatory reporting, including requirements for financial institutions.

  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail — you keep accurate, audit-ready records across multiple entities and reporting streams.

  • Deadline-conscious, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality work on tight close and reporting timelines while managing competing priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

  • High accountability and ownership — you follow through on your commitments and own outcomes end to end.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute complex reconciliations and variance analyses.

  • Comfortable learning and working with modern AI tools and automation platforms to enhance productivity, accuracy, and process efficiency.

  • Works independently and collaboratively with a global team across various time zones.

  • Professional-level English communication, both written and spoken.

Preferred requirements

  • Understanding of blockchain technology and digital assets.

  • Hands-on experience with automation tools and AI platforms such as Claude, ChatGPT, N8N or similar tools used in accounting workflows.

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion (or a comparable ERP), Slack, and Google Workspace.

  • Experience working cross-functionally in a remote-first, high-growth environment.
