Technical Project Manager – Hybrid or Remote. United States – Boston or Marlborough, Mass.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and technically savvy Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead and coordinate cloud data migration projects. In this role, you'll be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering end-to-end migration of data systems from on-premises environments to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including data engineers, cloud architects, security, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth transitions that meet performance, security, and compliance requirements. You will be in control of projects designed to quickly transform customer environments with 100TBs of unstructured data and dozens of sites globally.
As a Technical Project Manager on the Custom Professional Services Team, you will….
- Lead and manage all phases of cloud data migration projects, from requirements gathering to execution and post-migration validation
- Create and maintain project plans, timelines, and documentation
- Collaborate with cloud infrastructure teams to define migration strategies and ensure best practices
- Coordinate with data teams to ensure data integrity, quality, and minimal downtime during migration
- Identify and mitigate project risks and roadblocks
- Manage stakeholder expectations, provide regular updates, and facilitate project meetings
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards throughout the migration process
- Work within Agile or hybrid project methodologies and continuously optimize project workflows
- Track KPIs and success metrics to assess project health and performance
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- 7 – 10+ years of technical project management experience, with a strong focus on data migration and/or cloud infrastructure
- Hands-on experience leading data migration projects to public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Solid understanding of cloud data storage (S3, Blob Storage, BigQuery, etc.), databases (SQL, NoSQL), and ETL/ELT pipelines
- Familiarity with data security, encryption, compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR), and disaster recovery best practices
- Understanding of Microsoft Concepts of Active Directory, File Shares, Data Permissions, and DFS
- Understanding of Networking, Routing, and Firewalls as it pertains to infrastructure deployments and data migrations
- Proficient with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, MS Project) and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management certification (PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent)
- Cloud certification(s) (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or Google Cloud PM)
- Experience in data warehousing, data lakes, or enterprise data platforms
- Background in Agile/Scrum or hybrid delivery models
