The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

Property & Specialty Product Development is seeking a manager for our Product Design team. Our team is responsible for the design and development of our P&S products, driving research and innovation to reinvent our core product offerings for today and in the future. You’ll lead a group of high performing analysts that conduct research, develop insights, design new product features and contribute to the development of our Property & Specialty strategy.

We are looking for someone that can both help define our vision while also delving into the details of how our products work, identifying opportunities and bringing those opportunities to market. This is a high visibility role within P&S, with frequent leadership presentations. We work cross-functionally across all of US Retail Market (USRM), and this role will be expected to help serve as a representative and P&S SME across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of product research analysts, supporting analysts with qualitative and quantitative research and product development
  • Develop and mentor analysts
  • Supports team members using technical tools like SAS to query data for analyses
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and partner cross functionally to drive new ideas and bring programs to market
  • Serve as a thought leader and partner for the whole Product Design team
  • Plays an active role in building a dynamic and inclusive team culture
  • Become an expert on homeowners product

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field
  • 8 years or more of relevant experience
  • PhD beneficial
  • Expert skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (eg, SAS, Emblem)
  • Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision-making, communication, and project management skills
  • Experience directly managing others required
  • Experience managing operations beneficial
  • High-level knowledge of data sources, tools, and the business (lines, systems, pricing plans), predictive modeling, and code (eg, SQL)
  • Significant understanding of competitors’ pricing strategies and relationship to our own
  • Industry knowledge developed from internal meetings, news alerts, project-specific work, and proactive research into competitor strategies
