TrueMotion has created the leading smartphone based solution for reducing distracted driving, making driving safer and more affordable for everyone. Based on our success, we're now innovating new ways to leverage the power of our TrueMotion engine, with a variety of applications in the automotive space. 

We're in search of an experienced iOS developer to help us evolve our iPhone apps. In this new role you'll be using Core Motion and Core Location APIs to implement algorithms designed by our data science team, along with networking protocols for sending and receiving data from our backend services. The ideal person for this role will be someone who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team, can weigh both technical and business considerations, and has a passion for shipping great products that delight our customers. 

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of our iOS app store and B2B applications and SDK
  • Scale mobile processes; participate in release pipeline, test automation and monitoring (trip capture, battery and data usage, car crashes, etc.).
  • Help embed algorithms initially developed to run in the cloud back to the phone.
  • Confidently advocate for the iOS platform (e.g: evaluating new frameworks, mentoring the team, and helping lead the iOS technical vision at TrueMotion).

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience working with key technologies for the iOS platform (Swift, Objective-C with exposure to the following frameworks: Core Data, Core Location, Core Motion, MapKit, Push notifications and UIKit)  
  • Experience distributing apps to the Apple App Store, as well as navigating the Apple review process
  • Experience architecting mobile application code for end user delivery, white label delivery, and SDK delivery
  • Experience working on applications consuming JSON from RESTful services
  • A strong intuitive sense for good user experience
  • Knowledgeable about test driven development (TDD), behavior driven development (BDD), and debugging.

Pluses:

  • Experience building Android applications and/or an interest in learning the Android side as well.
  • Good knowledge of Agile process and methodology, including planning and estimation.

TrueMotion's safe driving apps are helping to make the roads safer for everyone, while helping to lower the cost of insurance. As Senior Backend Engineer, you'll design, develop and maintain Python based IoT applications hosted in an AWS environment that processes and analyzes large amounts of data coming from millions of smartphones. The backend code is being co-developed with data science engineers who create the machine learning that identifies and recognizes a wide variety of driving behavior.  Our self sustaining scrum teams deliver code to production without external dependencies, which requires close collaboration with mobile developers, data scientists, and QA engineers. Thus the ideal person for this role will be someone who has experience building scalable, maintainable, secure backend code, while also applying the fundamentals of unit testing, automation, and continuous delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate, maintain, release, and operate TrueMotion backend application
  • Organize and participate in code reviews
  • Proactively tackle and solve very hard problems with high success rate
  • Seeks to obtain necessary training required to complete assigned tasks
  • Demonstrate an ability to mentor other engineers in developing technical or domain expertise
  • Participate in SCRUM team planning, and technical meetings
  • Support and continuously improve release and deployment pipeline.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years in backend engineering roles
  • Experience designing and documenting systems, including writing and reviewing code and automating away problems within your team's domain
  • Strong coding skills in at least one programming language, with the desire to pick up more. We work primarily in Python, with smatterings of shell script, and Go
  • In Depth understanding of AWS services and experience using EC2, SQS, Lambda, Dynamo, RDS (PostgreS), S3, Kinesis, ECS, and IAM
  • In depth knowledge and experience working with Linux (we use a mix of Ubuntu and Amazon Linux), as well as Docker, NGiИX, PostgreSQL and Consul
  • Experience deploying or managing large scale distributed Linux environments
  • Willingness to partake in an on-call rotation alongside the engineers who build our production backends
  • Comfortable with large scale production systems and technologies, for example load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, and/or configuration management
  • Database (RDBMS & NoSql) schema design

Preferred qualifications

  • Expert level Linux admin skills
  • Experience managing cassandra clusters
  • Experience in developing systems architecture

Are you an experienced Android developer?  Want to help us evolve the Android stack for a product that's receiving rave reviews and solving real-world problems?  As an Android developer at TrueMotion, you'll play a key role on our mobile engineering team, developing new features, having fun and making our products ever more awesome.   • Help scale our mobile team processes by practicing “Clean Code” principles for app architecture, branching/versioning, release train, feature flipping and A/B test, CI pipeline, TDD.

Do you have a Testing/Quality background and a creative problem solving mindset?  Do you take a systematic approach to quality assurance?  We're looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer who can work comfortably with developer and operations tools -- e.g. API and SDK reference documentation, system logs and debuggers.  As a Quality Assurance Engineer at TrueMotion, you will design tests for our cloud-based products and apps running on millions of smartphones, helping to ensure that we deliver the highest quality products possible. As we develop new features, you will also be testing our apps a user to see what is and isn't working from a product perspective.

Responsibilities: 

  • Play a major role in championing the importance of quality improvement across all areas of the software development life cycle
  • Advocate and ensure a high quality user experience
  • Prepare test scenarios, write test specifications and perform ad hoc and exploratory testing throughout the entire software development life cycle
  • Execute tests, isolate bugs, troubleshoot, and log defects through to defect closure
  • Work with cross-functional teams to explore requirements, designs, and implementations in order to execute acceptance tests and develop quality plans
  • Utilize a solid understanding of iOS, Android, and web technologies
  • Identify hypothetical failure modes; design and execute tests of hypotheses
  • Design & execute functional test scripts and regression testing using automated tools
  • Work directly with customers to help resolve their issues

Desired Skills & Experience: 

  • 2+ years of experience in QA role
  • A previous focus on interaction and visual design principles (IxD, UX, UI)
  • Experience testing web applications with a lot of users
  • Success testing native mobile applications on Android and iOS devices
