ThriveFantasy: Daily Fantasy Sports for Prop Bets

ThriveFantasy is a new daily fantasy company dedicated to prop bets, which are made for the occurrence or non-occurrence during a game of an event not directly affecting the game's final outcome. For instance, as Founder and CEO Adam Weinstein explained in our interview, will LeBron James go for "Over" or "Under" 25 points tonight? The company was founded in New York City in 2016, and in addition to how the game works, I also had the chance to ask Weinstein about how the company has evolved over time.

Tell me the story of how ThriveFantasy was founded.

ThriveFantasy Founder and CEO Adam Weinstein.
I have always been around the Daily Fantasy Sports space. I was an early adopter of DraftKings and FanDuel and loved competing against others. However, I hated that I would constantly get crushed by the same people, or touts as they are known as. So I wanted to create something that was easier for the average fan while also changing the game concept.

For those who don't know, what is ThriveFantasy?

ThriveFantasy is a new DFS platform for prop bets. A prop bet is simple. We give you a specific athlete, for instance, LeBron James, and ask you a binary question. Will LeBron go for "Over" or "Under" 25 points tonight? We challenge users to pick 10 out of 20 props that we offer for a specific contest and then you compete against others who have done the same. It's fun, easy, and I can guarantee you have a better chance of winning.

What separates it from the other daily fantasy companies out there?

There is no DFS platform out there focusing on props. If you watch SportsCenter or any other fantasy shows, props are constantly being talked about. It is such a different sweat when games go live because you now only care about your specific athlete achieving his specific stat that you picked. If you picked an under, now you are rooting AGAINST that athlete in your lineup. That has never been the case before in fantasy sports.

How has the company evolved over time?

We have evolved immensely. We launched a little over 6 months ago and are creating new concepts weekly. We are constantly listening to user feedback and are doing everything in our power to make the experience as user-friendly and fun as possible.

What kind of success have you seen?

Just last week, we surpassed the $150K in total entry fees. We are gaining traction every day which is leading to higher prize pools that we can award to users. Come join us as it is the new way to play DFS!

How big is the company now? Are you hiring for any positions?

We are a true startup in every sense of the word. We have a team of 4 along with 3 consultants. We aren't hiring at the moment but as we raise our seed round, it is very possible we look to hire.

What's next?

We are going to look into adding more sports such as PGA, MMA, and ultimately eSports. We see a massive opportunity in the eSports space when it comes to prop bets. What's nice about props is that the opportunities are limitless. You can literally make 500 different props on a just a single sporting event. It's the new wave and people are really embracing ThriveFantasy!
