GoBambino: The Simplest Way to Book Kid Activities

GoBambino is a mobile platform that allows busy parents (and parents-to-be) to discover and book everything from drop-in classes to workshops and camps, all without stress and without commitment. I had the chance to speak with Founder Dana Serikov about the story of the company's founding, where it's going next, and what she's most proud of.

Tell me the story of how GoBambino was founded.

I love this one! I was trying to find activities for my then 2-year-old, I was so sure there was an app for it that I immediately went to look for it in the app store—there wasn’t! I was looking for a tool to help me find drop-in classes and semester classes for kids. There was no book-and-go app, I was either going through google pages and calling activity providers to find out what their availability and schedules are or I had to sign up for a monthly subscription service to book drop-ins. I knew I wasn’t the only one who needed it, after surveying local NYC moms—I built a team and launched theGoBambino app in January of 2018.

For those who don't know, what does GoBambino do?

GoBambino is a marketplace for kids’ activities. We make it easy for parents to discover and book classes, camps, events all on one easy to use app! We’re currently live in New York only.

What are some of the cool things you've been working on lately?

Well, we are always adding features and improving our product but this one is BIG, we are currently in the testing stage and will soon be launching web. We’ll be making GoBambino available for everybody, not only IOS users.

What's next for the company?

Next, we are launching web, then Android, then improving our activity provider interface while fundraising and bringingGoBambino to more parents and activity providers. That’s the near future—2019 plan!

What are you most proud of from your time at the company?

We are a very lean company. We build, acquire providers/inventory, and acquire users at a low cost and a healthy pace. We’ve gotten pretty creative with user acquisition. Personally, I’m proud of building a strong team. My partner and CTO built an amazing team of developers, who are talented and hardworking. I am on the business side of the company and last year was joined by Aparna Venkataraman who came in as GoBambino’s CMO and partner. Aparna quickly became a vital part of GoBambino and is largely responsible for our growth. To sum it up—I’m proud of my team!

How big is the team? Any positions you're looking to hire for in the coming months?

We are a team of seven, but only two of us work in NYC. We’re looking to fill business development and marketing internships.

Any final thoughts?
