DownToDash: An App to Make Quality Activity Buddies

DownToDash is an app that helps its users find other people to do activities with. I had the chance to speak with Co-Founder and CEO Sama Jashnani about how the company was founded, what it's all about, and more.

Tell me the story of how DownToDash was founded.

My Co-Founder and I lived in different countries and personally faced the problem of not having people to share specific activities with. We were extremely excited about having a way to connect with millennials around us to do what we love and therefore created DownToDash.

For those who don't know, what does DownToDash do?

DownToDash is an app to make quality activity buddies. It connects people in the same location based on what they are down to do, whether it’s workouts, sports, movies or other activities. Users can post specific plans, for example, play Tennis on Thursday at 5 pm at McCarren Park and other users can join.

What are some of the cool things you've been working on lately?

We organize many exciting monthly events in NYC including dessert crawls, bowling nights, networking events, a Monday Sucks party and others. We were recently featured on Entrepreneur Elevator Pitch Season 3 and won several pitch competitions including Pitch Night NYC.

What's next for the company?

We are working on many exciting updates for our users. One of my favorite updates is the closed network option for students and corporates, enhancing the exclusivity of DTD.

How big is the team? Any positions you're looking to hire for in the coming months?

We are three people on the tech side and two on the marketing side. We also have an all-star advisor team including a Venture Lawyer, experienced entrepreneurs and managers from Google and Facebook. We are looking to add a technical person to the team.

Any final thoughts?
