Can you share a summary on what Dell Boomi does?

Dell Boomi accelerates business outcome by building software components that integrate application and data across data silos, on-premise, cloud applications, and devices.

What are some of the different technologies that the engineering team gets to work with and at what scale?

Being a pioneer of iPaaS (Integration Platform as a service), we use Open Source technologies when suitable and developed our own solutions when those did not exist at the scale we needed.

Some of the technologies we are working on include Microservices, API, Webservices, highly scalable multi-tenant SaaS Application, Java, Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, Hibernate, GraphQL and RIA technologies at Petabyte-level transaction volume.

What are some of the interesting projects that the engineering team is tackling?

We recently built a multi-tenant IDE solution for third-party developers to easily build custom solutions on our platform. We are in the midst of developing multiple micro-services to scale-out our platform for future growth. We are always working on building integrations and connectors with different data silos and applications.

Does your engineering team have a chance to work on projects outside of their day-to-day responsibilities?

We have two big hackathon competitions twice a year where multiple teams work fulltime on new innovation ideas for a week. In addition to that, we have a lab day every spring to work on the areas team find interesting and pursue. Some of the engineering leaders are well known for their contribution to the open-source projects and community.

Dell Boomi Culture

What is the culture like at Dell Boomi for the engineering team?

Dell Boomi has a vibe of a startup, but the financial backing of a big company. Engineering culture is both innovative and pragmatic at the same time. We work hard but also pay attention to work-life balance and individual growth. We have weekly lunch and learns and lab days to explore new technologies and innovate.
