FutureM, the annual event put on by MITX (Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange) showcasing the future of marketing, held its sixth annual version of the conference this week at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Speakers from the worlds of fashion, technology, entertainment, academia, sports, media, finance and design took the stage to address the event’s two thousand attendees around the conference theme of, “Connect. Create. Innovate.”

The 3-day event featured a wide array of topics, including tracks on Career & Talent Development, Content, Customer Insights, Data & Analytics, Entertainment, Disruptive Innovation, Internet of Things, Mobile, Paid Media, Start-Up Strategy and Strategic Design.


One element that makes FutureM unique is its diversity when it comes to speakers. From inventors, to professors, to philosophers, to founders, there's content each day for any professional seeking a touch of inspiration or a new hack. MITX President, Amy Quigley, said of the 2015 speaker lineup, "We purposely created an environment to stimulate progressive thinking, meaningful connections and provocative conversation." 

Keynote speakers at FutureM included, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Inventor of the Web & Professor, MIT; Mick Ebling, CEO, Not Impossible Labs; and Uri Minkoff, Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder, Rebecca Minkoff.

Other notable speakers included Cynthia Breazeal, Professor, MIT Media Lab; Adam Cutler, Design Studio Program Director, IBM Design; Greg Karamitis, Vice President of Analytics, DraftKings; Frank Lo, Director of Data Science, Wayfair; and Tamsen Webster, Executive Producer, TEDxCambridge.


Boston's startup was also ver well represented. One session, on Day 1, featured founders from some of our most recognizable startups sharing their "war stories." Moderated by David Chang, CoachUp's Jordan Fliegel, Crowdly's Dan Sullivan, Mavrck's Lyle Stevens, Ministry of Supply's Kit Hickey and Placester's Frederick Townes, shared their journey's - everything from fundraising, the importance of being scrappy, hiring tactics (and flops), company culture and their biggest career failures.

Another standout session - The Industry Disruptors. Among this panel, which explored disruptive industry models through various lenses, were Uber's East Coast General Manager, Meghan Verena Joyce and Ben Fischman, Founder and CEO of M.Gemi, the first business created by LAUNCH.
