SilverRail Technologies Company Overview
We are a mission driven travel technology company; bringing technology and order to a low tech and fragmented space.
Today, we are powering global rail with our next-generation retailing and distribution platform.
Our technology has been purpose–built for rail and is dedicated to improving the full customer experience lifecycle, including: journey planning, inventory management, scheduling, pricing, booking, payment, ticketing, reporting and administration.
SilverCore is the world’s first unified platform for global rail distribution, it connects carriers and suppliers to both online and offline travel distributors.
· SilverRail handles more than 1 billion online rail searches each year.
· SilverRail distributes tickets for more than 35 providers and carriers.
· SilverRail processes more than 25 million bookings each year.
· SilverRail serves more than 1,500 corporate customers worldwide.
SilverRail was founded in 2009 by Aaron Gowell and Will Phillipson. Having led one of the first companies to sell cruises online, they knew they could bring rail booking to the 21st century.
Today, SilverRail is one of the most important rail technology providers – working with companies like Expedia, SNCF, Rail Europe, Rome2rio, National Rail Enquiries, Egencia, Stagecoach, and Transport for Greater Manchester.
Our growing team of travel and e-commerce experts, mathematicians and software engineers work out of offices in London, Boston, Brisbane and Stockholm. And we’re only just getting started.
Backed by one of the world's leading travel companies
Expedia Inc, one of the world’s leading travel companies, acquired a majority stake in SilverRail in June 2017. The acquisition builds on the partnership the two companies have had since 2010 when Egencia®, Expedia’s corporate travel brand, began using SilverRail’s expertise to offer rail inventory in the US. The partnership expanded in 2016 when Expedia.com® announced it would use SilverRail’s technology platform to sell rail tickets through the Expedia.co.uk website. The acquisition broadens Expedia’s breadth of choice of travel products across air, hotel, car rental, cruise, packages and rail through SilverRail’s technology, bringing rail supply online to a global audience

What's it like to work at SilverRail? Inclusive, collaborative, active, challenging, and fun! We have a very close-knit team with a dare to think big mentality. Quality is very important and our people are held to high standards. Our developers get together on a bi-weekly basis to discuss new technologies, seminars they’ve attended, or just brainstorm ideas on what we could be doing. We have a rec room with lots of toys: board games, video games, and ping-pong. Lunch is often accompanied by a soccer game on the big screen, trash-talking from the fantasy football league, or a lively discussion about what’s going on in the world.
One of our core values is “We enjoy life” and this is reflected in a rich set of activities throughout the year. Past activities include cook offs, Office Olympics, Super Bowl squares, 5k races, murder mystery parties, volunteer days, table tennis tournaments and more. Of course, we also have a summer outing and holiday party as well.
Our kitchen is stocked with pretty much whatever fuel our employees want: energy bars, chips, cereal, fruit, and drinks of all sorts. On the caffeine front, we have an Illy espresso machine as well as 2 coffee makers.
Welcome to SilverRail Technologies!
Our Ops Room is the eye of the company - monitoring everything from incoming help desk and service requests to infrastructure and application health to customer transaction performance….and Red Sox games, yule log fires…all the important stuff
You'll often find people helping each other out. In this case, one of our product managers is helping a recent hire on the development team come up to speed.
The shared treadmill desk is a favorite in the office, especially when we have our company-wide Fitbit challenges!
Our office is full of brainbusters and puzzles to help out when you need a break
Once you get the swing of it, typing while biking is very easy
We have 5 company values, all displayed on banners around the office. These weren't dictated or thrown upon us, but were developed based on feedback from everyone in the company, and so they're already a part of our identity and culture.
Ping pong is a staple in our office. We're in the middle of a tournament right now and the competitive spirit (aka trash-talking) is high.

All of our conference rooms are named after famous train stations. Grand Central is our lunch/game room. We also have a room named Kings Cross, which is a station in London...and the starting point for Harry Potter's Hogwarts Express, of course.
We recently had our first-ever (but definitely not last) Office Olympics -- the winning team received these mugs. We couldn't capture all of the Olympics in this VentureFizz tour, but take a look at the following pictures for a sampling
When you need to move quickly about the office, just grab one of our many scooters
You can just barely see it on her desk, but we have the SilverStar Awards: a peer-to-peer recognition award for going above and beyond. You get a metallic silver star and a gift card!
Everyone has a sit-to-stand desk, making it easy to switch things up throughout the day.
