Co-Founder & CEO
Lee Taylor started REsurety to improve the profitability of renewable energy. While a student at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Mr. Taylor led multi-disciplinary research quantifying the benefits of weather-risk hedging for US wind projects. Following the conclusion that the potential benefits of customized weather derivatives were significant and unrealized, Mr. Taylor founded REsurety to enable the wind industry to reap those benefits.
Mr. Taylor holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth where he was an Edward Tuck Scholar and the 2012 recipient of the Lt. Walter A. Jacobs Memorial Prize for intellectual leadership. He holds Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Biology from the University of Virginia, where he graduated with High Distinction.
Chief Technology Officer
Karl Critz is a software engineer with experience in simulation, modeling, machine vision, and data visualization. His work in renewables has integrated solar power with smart residential load sources and optimized generation strategies for high-penetration wind. As an experienced software architect, Karl ensures that REsurety's analytical infrastructure is functional, reliable, and scalable.
Mr. Critz holds a Masters of Science in Management and Engineering from MIT Sloan, where he received an NREL Innovative Research Analysis Award grant for wind integration research. Mr. Critz also holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
Christian Rivero is a renewable energy engineer with professional experience in wind, solar photo voltaic and solar thermal generation technologies. Before pursuing academic and professional opportunities in renewable energy in the U.S., he was a Product Specialist at Lenovo in Peru. Mr. Rivero's academic and professional experiences in energy systems modeling and technology infrastructure enable him to not only help drive the development of REsurety's analytical technologies, but to build and optimize the firm's IT hardware in support of REsurety's data-intensive approach to risk evaluation and mitigation.
Mr. Rivero holds a Master's degree in Energy Systems from Northeastern University and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Lima, Peru.
Jennifer Newman is an atmospheric scientist with experience in boundary layer meteorology, remote sensing, machine learning, and wind resource assessment. Prior to joining REsurety, Dr. Newman completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory with a focus on improving turbulence estimates from Doppler wind lidars. As a research scientist at REsurety, she investigates new methods for estimating the risk of potential wind projects.
Dr. Newman holds Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from Cornell University where she graduated with distinction in research.
VP, Commercial Operations
Adam Reeve is a mechanical engineer and data scientist with a strong interest in the rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape. Before joining the REsurety team, he worked for a proprietary trading firm specializing in quantitative analysis of energy markets. His deep experience in data-driven analysis, model building, risk assessment and data visualization support REsurety's analytical approach to quantifying and managing the weather-linked revenue risks of wind power projects.
Mr. Reeve holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Political Science from Yale College, with a focus on energy and environmental studies. He graduated with distinction in both majors.
VP, Settlement Operations
Jeremy Traurig has 15+ years of wind energy experience ranging from operational performance improvements, energy assessments and wind resource modelling. Prior to joining the REsurety team, Mr. Traurig worked at First Wind improving performance and increasing availability of over 3 gigawatts of operating wind assets. This experience as well as his prior experience with wind resource modelling supports REsurety’s effort to continuously improve the Company’s analytical tools.
Mr. Traurig holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Oklahoma where he began his career developing an empirical wind resource model to map the resource in the state.
VP, Finance & Operations
Kevin Krachman is a financial and business strategist with expertise in renewable energy project finance. Before joining the REsurety team, he served as the CFO of Sunwealth where he designed and launched an innovative funding mechanism for commercial solar projects. In his years at Analysis Group and Cornerstone Research, Mr. Krachman served as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies on issues related to litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and profit maximization.
Mr. Krachman is a CFA and CAIA charterholder, and he holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia where he was the recipient of the Faculty Award for Academic Excellence. He also holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering degree from Duke University.
I enjoy working at REsurety because it enables me to apply my research background to real-world problems that are important to the wind industry. The company culture is very supportive and laid-back and I enjoy getting to work with people from a variety of different disciplines.
