Bullhorn: Manager, Systems Engineering

Bullhorns Manager of Systems Engineering is a crucial and influential member of the Technical Operations Team. In this role, you will manage a highly technical team tasked with owning monitoring, alerting, configuration and overall maintenance of our physical and virtual infrastructure. You will work with Research & Development, Operations, Security and Information Systems to ensure that all of Bullhorns systems maintain the necessary up-time and compliance rules set forth in our auditing principles. You will lead the charge in pushing all of our systems to follow industry standards, leading to more performant, highly available, and redundant systems throughout our multiple product lines.

As a Manager of Systems Engineering, a typical day might include:

  • Meeting with stakeholders from Operations and Development to determine new, achievable, high-value projects

  • Coach team members to produce quality work, guide their careers, and ensure team objectives are met

  • Plan long-term team objectives and effectively make their case to management

  • Being flexible to the needs of multiple teams in multiple geographies, and ensuring the team understands and adjusts work as needed.

  • Providing leadership to senior, mid and entry-level technicians.

  • Monitoring and maintaining all production system equipment and services

  • Developing technical training content for the Technical Operations organization and facilitate Subject Matter Expert training of the processes and/or products you support ensuring the rest of the team builds corresponding acumen.

  • Possess Proven knowledge and implementation of Systems Engineering best practices

  • Have strong ability to organize and prioritize team objectives

  • Have a working knowledge of network concepts (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, and IP telephony).

  • Understand tools/applications like JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab, Artifactory, and Jenkins

  • Have strong technical knowledge of PC hardware, Linux, Google Apps, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Active Directory in a networked environment

  • Understands cloud-first and self-hosted application architectures, and have worked with cloud providers (Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure)

Bonus points for:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MBA, MIS or a related field of study

  • Understanding of Agile Scrum and Kanban principles

  • SOC1 and SOC2 compliance

  • Understanding the values and challenges surrounding containerization technologies like docker and kubernetes
