Are you are experienced in building and managing rapidly growing cloud-based infrastructures and platforms in public clouds at scale? Do you think that automation is almost always the right answer? You’ll get to build our infrastructure and platforms, help design our architecture, fix things when they break and do it with smart, down-to-earth people that enjoy having fun while working together.

Job Description: 

  • Design, build and manage all of Wiser’s public cloud-based infrastructures and platforms (including compute, databases, networks, storage, etc.) using modern micro services and distributed systems architectures.
  • Own the technical direction and implementation of the Wiser in-store platform.
  • Provide day-to-day support for the operations of all of our infrastructure, platform, applications and services in our development, testing, performance and production environments.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to build or use tools and scripts to automate anything that can be automated (infrastructure-as-code).
  • Create infrastructure and platforms that are flexible, reliable and can scale rapidly.
  • Treat infrastructure as code, and manage as such.
  • Monitor and improve performance and stability.
  • Investigate failures, fix them and execute root-cause analyses.
  • Interact with and effectively communicate with your DevOps colleagues and cross-functional teams that span our organization.
  • Maintain regular and reliable work attendance.

Desired Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Expert knowledge of AWS (IAM, VPC, EC2, ALB/ELB, ASG, EBS, CloudWatch, Security Groups, Network Routing ACLs, S3, MySQL/PostgreSQL RDS, Redshift, ElastiCache etc.).
  • Expert at Cloud Automation/Provisioning using HashiCorp Terraform/Packer/Vault/Consul. 
  • Programming experience in Java, Ruby on Rails, Python, or other similar languages.
  • Security-oriented mindset and familiarity with SOC/PCI DSS compliance regulations.
  • Proficient at working with multiple Linux distributions: Amazon Linux/CentOS/Ubuntu/Alpine.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform a plus.
  • Comfortable administering Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis, Redshift, MySQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, and CircleCI.
  • Ability to write advanced Bash scripts. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • 5+ years supporting mission-critical online and customer facing applications.
  • Experience working with the Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Comfortable in laaS, PaaS environments.
  • Maintain regular and reliable work attendance.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with Developers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively independently and in teams (local and distributed).
  • Intellectually curious, with a passion for continuous learning and growing professionally.
  • Must be able to provide off-hours support as needed for emergency situations.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, show initiative and respond quickly in an interrupt-driven environment.

Are you are experienced in designing and building rapidly growing cloud-based platforms in public clouds at scale? Do you love solving tough business challenges with elegant technical solutions? If so this is the right opportunity for you. We are a fast-paced, dynamic (and fun) organization looking to define a new type of retail decision support solution for retailers. You’ll own our in-store data collection platform architecture and be the key in-store team technology contributor as we embark on a major new initiative to create omni-channel solutions for our customers.

Essential Functions

  • Own, evangelize and extend our in-store technology vision to support our new omni-channel focus
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to our mobile, web, backend and DevOps engineering teams
  • Contribute meaningfully to our codebase as needed to deliver significant new projects
  • Partner with other product, engineering and business leaders to define project requirements
  • Own the technical and non-functional requirements of significant new feature work
  • Review all significant new implementations for adherence to technology standards and best practices
  • Research, prototype and review new technologies and solutions that would add value to the business
  • Participate actively as a member of the in-store Engineering leadership team

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience and knowledge
  • 10+ years overall software development experience / 3+ years in an architect/technical leadership role
  • Excellent computer science fundamentals: OOD/OOP, algorithms, data structures, etc.
  • Experience implementing evolutionary design working within an agile methodology
  • Prior successful delivery of a cloud-based distributed system (SOA or microservices)
  • Deep expertise across front-end, back-end and database technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Java, JavaScript, Ruby-on-Rails and/or Python
  • Infrastructure automation/DevOps experience in a Linux-based environment
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Intellectually curious, with a passion for continuous learning and growing professionally
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
  • Demonstrated drive/passion/hunger to build a successful product and company

Things That Will Really Catch Our Eye

  • Experience architecting and building native mobile app solutions in iOS or Android
  • Knowledge of Docker, Amazon ECS, or related containerization solutions
  • Experience with machine learning, image recognition, or OCR technologies
  • Interest in data warehousing, analytics, modeling, and data visualization tools
  • Understanding of geospatial/PostGIS technologies

Wiser is looking for an experienced mobile engineer to join our development team.  You will be the primary iOS developer for the Mobee App, our crowdsourced in-store data collection solution.  The right person for this role is someone who excels in creating engaging user experiences backed by cleanly designed and well-tested codebases, someone who loves creating elegant solutions for complex problems, and someone who thrives in the craziness of a small team at a fast-growing company.  We are looking for a results-driven engineer who has successfully shipped multiple commercial applications.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver high quality, well-tested code on a regular basis for Mobee App on the iOS platform
  • Collaborate directly with the product owner, business users, and other engineers to define, refine and implement new product features
  • Design efficient, scalable and maintainable code
  • Bring new ideas and technologies to the table that can improve our product or process

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • 5+ years professional software development experience on the iOS platform
  • Expertise in both Objective-C and Swift
  • Experience building/shipping/maintaining multiple commercial iOS applications
  • Deep understanding of REST API design
  • Strong testing practices
  • Solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals: OOD/OOP, algorithms, data structures
  • Critical eye to build for what is needed and important now, while designing for the future
  • Drive/passion/hunger to build a successful product and company

  • Android development expertise
  • Implementation of continuous delivery practices for mobile apps
  • Significant experience with map-based apps
  • Server-side development experience with web application frameworks such as Ruby on Rails
  • Practical experience with Domain Driven Design
