Responsibilities:

  • The position will manage the delivery of quality software that brings value to Liberty Mutual and our platform users
  • Develop a team of back-end and full-stack engineers for the Direct Service & Claims portfolio in our Digital organization
  • Build and review software application features such as online policy changes, auto insurance comparison estimates, and obtaining insurance documents and information
  • Serve as an institutional leader to make performant and scalable technology choices
  • Urge and support a development process based on A/B texting, fast iteration, analytics, and user research
  • Develop strong teams of software engineers through coaching, mentoring, and feedback
  • Work closely with teams, product owners, agile coaches, and other partners to ensure we rapidly deliver exceptional products
  • Drive innovation and grow technical expertise within the assigned team, serving as a lead technical expert and manager
  • Utilize programming concepts including micro services, containerization, service monitoring, server less, event-driven programming, CQRS pattern, and DevOps via CI/CD and automation
  • Utilize program languages such as JavaScript/NodeJS, Java, Groovy, and Python
  • Lead development teams through platform tech-debt and API modernization efforts
  • Travel required up to 10%.

Qualifications:


The position requires a Bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or a related field. Also requires experience with each of the following: modern programming concepts including: Microservices; Containerization; Service monitoring; Serverless, event-driven programming; CQRS pattern; and DevOps via CI/CD and automation; one or more programming language including but not limited to JavaScript/NodeJS, C#, Java, Groovy, Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Python; and leading development teams through platform tech-debt and API modernization efforts. Travel required up to 10%.
