About the role
Reporting to the Head of Process & Materials Engineering, the Process Engineer will expand Alloys library of complex component features, geometries, and support strategies. You will work closely with Alloys Software and Control teams to design, implement, and test new Stack Forging features. You will critically analyze experimental results, design process improvements, and develop support strategies. This will require problem-solving skills and data analysis skills paired with the design and hands-on execution of experiments.
What youll do
-
Deeply understand Stack Forging and develop novel strategies for expanding a library of component geometries and associated support strategies.
-
Prototype and test 3D & 2D geometric algorithms to generate complex process instructions for novel additive manufacturing machines
-
Work cross-functionally with Software, Production, Hardware, and Applications engineers to meet Customer needs through process improvements to enable complex component fabrication
-
Provide Design for Manufacturability feedback on customer components to improve outcomes
-
Run experiments to determine design guidelines and improve process capability
-
Document data and findings to present data clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical Builders
-
Develop strategies for motion control, path planning optimization, and 3D geometric supports
-
Design and develop automated data acquisition test rigs
-
Work closely with machine controls to improve performance, efficiency, and yields
-
Work with novel industrial equipment to measure and validate operating parameter ranges and process control
-
Data analysis and programming skills for building DOEs and analyzing data
What youll bring
-
Bachelors in mechanical engineering, computer engineering/science, physics, or a relevant technical discipline
