The Adaptive Scoring team builds the algorithms and engine which power Skill IQ, our way to measure technology skill. Learners using Skill IQ get a quick read on their skill level along with suggestions for further skill development.

As a member of the Adaptive Scoring team you will:

  • Build a clean, fully tested, modular system designed to measure users’ skill proficiencies, empower experimentation and allow flexibility for new use cases
  • Collaborate regularly with Data Scientists to implement and experiment with new algorithms
  • Provide architectural, strategic, and scale recommendations for backend development as well as integration with frontend and mobile experiences
  • Collaborate with Product Manager to better understand the customer, provide valuable input into project feasibility and timeline estimationHelp us assure absolute stability in our product through continuous integration, staged releases and feature toggles
  • Apply your experience in making intelligent, forward-thinking, technical decisions to our development process, including implementing new standards, tools, APIs, and workflows
  • Participate in seeking healthy development and collaboration practices as a team

Experience you'll need:

  • Prior experience building scalable software for high traffic websites, using languages like Python
  • Good communication skills, ability to partner with product and data science, and collaborate on cross-functional teams
  • Full stack experience preferred
  • Experience with web frameworks and APIs (e.g. Node/Express, FastAPI)
  • Familiar with the tradeoffs between OOP and FP experience with State Machines a plus
  • Deep understanding of relational databases and other types of data stores 
  • Experience with automated testing and test-driven development preferred
