We are seeking a talented, motivated and highly experienced Principal Electrical Engineer (Wifi/Bluetooth Developer) to join our fantastic Electrical Engineering department in performing radio frequency (RF) engineering development.
You will be responsible for the RF circuit and antenna design for all of iRobots connected products.
This includes, but is not limited to, design of all prevalent consumer wireless technology standards 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (WiFi) + Bluetooth + BLE. You will be responsible for all phases of design from prototyping through introduction to mass production.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate Robot wireless and connectivity requirements. Identify possible solutions, perform technical analysis, work with cross-functional teams to implement in end products.
Characterize and Down select Radio and Antenna solutions
Design, test, and calibration of RF circuitry, typically WLAN/BT
Develop Production Transmitter and Receiver calibration and test methodologies
Support implementation of factory test and calibration fixtures
Design, simulation, test of Antenna solutions, typically for WLAN/BT (2.4GHz+5GHz)
Maintain relationships and collaborate with major semiconductor players in the consumer RF marketspace.
Work directly with Compliance Laboratories for worldwide radio testing.
o Set up and test radio prototypes to ensure compliance with worldwide standards
THE REQUIRED SKILLS:
Circuit Board design of WiFi/Bluetooth radios for consumer electronics applications.
o Incorporating RFICs, filters, diplexers, etc.
Hands-on experience with RF test and measurement equipment (e.g. Vector Signal Analyzer/Generator (VSA/VSG), Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), Spectrum Analyzer, and radiation pattern measurement solutions.
Strong aptitude in understanding, evaluating and debugging RF related issues during development and production.
Experience using Linux command line and wireless utilities (e.g. iw, ifconfig, iwpriv, BASH scripting) to configure and control the radio for calibration and compliance testing
Identify root causes of any issues encountered
Provide technical analysis as necessary
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
BSEE and 8+ years of relevant experience, OR
MSEE and 6+ years of relevant experience
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
Working knowledge of transceiver behavior for WiFi and Bluetooth/BLE standards
Experience with antenna and circuit simulation tools (ANSYS HFSS, Siemens Hyperlynx, SPICE etc.)
Familiarity with common international radio standards and test methods, e.g.:
o FCC CFR 47 Part 15, Subpart C
o FCC CFR 47 Part 15, Subpart E
o ETSI EN 300 328
o ETSI EN 300 440
o ETSI EN 301 489
o IC RSS-102
o IC RSS-247
Experience with LitePoint IQxel , Anritsu MT886A test equipment
Experience working with overseas manufacturing teams for remote testing and debugging of radio fixtures
Altium Designer schematic capture and PCB layout familiarity
Design experience using Qualcomm RFICs
Experience with robotic systems
