Whats your favorite local business?
As a Principal Cloud Engineer you will work closely with DevOps and feature engineers to optimize and improve the parts of our web application software that interact with cloud infrastructure on AWS. This role will not be working on new/existing features of our web applications and instead will focus on the code that bridges the gap between software and the infrastructure that runs it. This includes systems that monitor the health of our applications, the containers they run in, the databases that store the data, the caches that improve performance, and the various libraries that handle these connections.

Varied Tech Stack:
All our engineers have the opportunity to work with Typescript, Golang, React, and Ruby (to name a few), but we dont require experience in all.
In this role you will:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on writing and deploying modern web applications on AWS and potentially other IaaS or PaaS providers
- Help define and improve security, uptime, and stability of containerized applications
- Work with DevOps on migrating web apps from Heroku to AWS
- Be a thought leader for how to best leverage cloud technologies as we add analytics and data science workloads to our infrastructure
- Help identify and implement ways to make it easier for Forward's engineers to develop software through a combination of tooling and improvements to local and hosted development environments
