The Enterprise Strategy Retail team is responsible for developing the Retail components of the companys long-term enterprise strategy and associated priorities, connecting each business unit to those priorities, exploring white space opportunities for growth, and connecting the dots across businesses to accelerate existing revenue streams. Within Enterprise Strategy, the Retail Growth team focuses on developing and driving strategies to grow our Retail businessesPharmacy, Front Store, MinuteClinic, and HealthHUBs in ways that connect to and benefit from our broader suite of enterprise assets.
As a key member of the Retail Enterprise Strategy team, the Senior Advisor will help define key priorities tied to enterprise imperatives; identify, articulate, and size whitespace opportunities for growth; and work with our business partners to evaluate the choices and trade-offs required to achieve those long-term goals. S/he will support the Retail Leadership Team and Retail President, collaborating with leaders and senior members of their teams. The Senior Advisor will prioritize the groups strategic agenda to drive decision-making, ensure smooth operations of ongoing and ad hoc/urgent senior leader meetings, and align teams throughout Retail. S/he will also take on high priority special projects to answer critical questions about our business, our competitors, and the retail and healthcare industries.
The Enterprise Strategy team is looking for a dynamic and creative team member to work on Retail Growth and enterprise-wide initiatives that can grow our multi-faceted business organically and inorganically and improve the health and experience of patients. This role is a great fit for an out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and high-energy who can easily function in a demanding, rapidly evolving business and organizational environment. This role will report to the Senior Director of Enterprise Strategy Retail.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Lead identification and development new business opportunities for Retail growth, including scanning the market for innovation and disruption, staying current on key consumer insights, and tracking health and retail industry trends
Oversee development of business cases for high potential ideas, including both quantitative and qualitative evaluation, and work with Retail and enterprise partners to make investment case to executive leadership
Manage agenda and priorities for Retail Leadership Team (Presidents direct reports) and coordinate highly productive decision-making sessions (ongoing weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings); develop relationships, ensure highest priority topics are brought to group for discussion, support leadership decisions, and communicate outcomes to broader teams through a variety of forums to ensure full organizational alignment
Working closely with Retail President and senior leaders, lead the development of materials for Board of Directors updates to share view of Retail strategy and latest financials. Ensure highest priority strategic questions and opportunities are surfaced and addressed
Work with the Retail Leadership Team, Enterprise Strategy peers, and business leads to develop enterprise strategy, identify key priorities Retail must make to help CVS Health deliver growth, and frame up tradeoffs and support leadership to make choices required to realize vision
Develop relationships with senior executives, peers, external advisors, and cross-functional team members as required in support of enterprise strategy development and implementation, with comfort operating in a matrixed environment
Manage and drive special projects that impact the direction of the entire Retail organization, pulling in expertise as needed from a variety of functional areas
Articulate and communicate the Retail strategy for a c-suite audience, with excellent presentation skills and strong executive presence
6+ years of experience in Strategy and/or Corporate Development and technical/functional experience in one or several of the following areas within the healthcare sector: management consulting, strategy, financial analysis, public policy, product development, mergers and acquisitions
Fact-based, structured problem solver, demonstrated personal integrity, collaborative style, proven ability to manage conflict, strong work ethic
Strong influencing and relationship building skills, with confident executive presence. Eagerness to get to yes, but comfort saying no
Strong relationship and project management skills for complex, cross-functionals projects across all levels within an organization and with relevant external constituents
Ability to lead the strategy development and execution planning of transformative projects from end to end, with both internal and external entities
Proven skills in developing strategic frameworks and storytelling that is strongly rooted in relevant fact base and key assumptions
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple high-profile and high-impact projects
Top-tier strategy consulting experience is preferred, but not required
MBA in a related field is highly desired
Bachelors degree required
