About the role...

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our growing team. The Software Engineering team works closely with crop scientists, data scientists, bioinformaticians, and quantitative geneticists to solve problems at the intersection of breeding, gene editing, and agronomy. You will help us develop interfaces for Inaris Systems. The role will be based at the company headquarters in Cambridge, MA or at our office in West Lafayette, IN

As a Software Engineer, you will

  • Work with breeders and scientists to develop tools for data exploration, field data, and geospatial information, enabling our crops team to make product advancement decisions
  • Develop and productionalize applications that integrate with and extend our breeding, phenotyping, field trial analytics, and overall agronomic data platforms to process spatial and environmental data sets
  • Develop robust integrations with strategic third party tools, platforms and models
  • Contribute to design and overall engineering roadmap

You bring

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience
  • Solid foundation in UI frameworks such as VUE and React and experience in user experience design
  • Significant experience with professional software engineering, including automated testing, agile methodologies, pair programming, refactoring, relational databases, and microservices
  • Experience with AWS tools, DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and containerization
  • Experience building front-ends geared towards data exploration
  • Modern Javascript experience required, Object Oriented Programming python is highly desired
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross functional environment in a self directed fashion
  • A strong sense of purpose, and drive to develop unique, high impact solutions
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for new challenges; Innate curiosity and a passion for learning
  • Creative and strategic thinking; willingness to be bold, take risks, and recognize and learn from failure

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals and audiences

Bonus Qualifications...

  • Experience working with agricultural, remote sensing, weather, or other data which is spatial & temporal in nature
  • Front-end work directly connected to scientific output, particularly in the bioinformatic and agronomic space
  • Familiarity with general web platform concepts including HTTP, HTTPS, CSS, CORS, and caching
  • Experience with container technologies, docker, and kubernetes
